How many minutes for your stands?

Dang, Mike! That sounds like “Dickin with” to me. You think one might be Pooper? Have you tried pooping on their turf? 😂

40 yard wide pasture seems like it could be another daylight / shotgun opportunity.

Bob/Al, I did go into 'their' offshoot hollow today and was set up when the 12:30 siren went off. Nada, so I ripped off 3-4 howls and got 2 from the same critter in return about 150-200 away. Thinking this just might work. WELL, there ain't no pic here is there? BASTARD, not another peep or sighting so I quit after an hour.

When and where I'm hunting helps me decide how long to stay on a stand, plus a bit of past experience.

Usually, the areas I hunt are very wide open, rolling hills, and I can see for a very long way

In general, I stay 15-20 minutes on a stand, but will stay 30-45 if I think it can pay off.

I generally hunt public lands in Colorado, and by Feb-March, coyotes have been called to a lot, so I will increase my time on stand to 30-45.

Every time before I stand up to go to the next stand, every time, I will glass the area before standing up. You might be surprised at how often there is a coyote standing waaay out there, looking in my direction. Then, it's game on!

I'll also glass the area before I start to call.

Conversely, on lightly hunted private lands, 15 minutes is normal.

I don't think there is a 'one-size-fits-all' when it comes to time on stand.

We always say 8 to 12 minutes is the golden "hour," but when it's warm and food is plentiful, there in no hurry to come in.
So we normally stick around for 45 minutes, and after we stop calling and our stuff is packed up, we try to sit quietly for another 10 minutes. After the 8 to 12 minutes( 80% of our shots), the last ten are our best time.
Winter, the temps dictate how long at -20* a 15 min set is a LONG time.
Why are you yelling?

I call in Ks and Colo. For the most part, I call for 15 minutes or so. However, last winter I hunted with a friend at night and he ran the foxpro up to 45 minutes and we had some success later in the call. Also he changed sounds on the call many times during a call.
