How many MO hunters here?

I'm from Hannibal, located in north east Missouri, about two hours north of St. Louis if that helps you out. I've yet to get my first coyote though....

Madman...Will do! Get healed up, I know what your going through. I had a wreck June 23rd that could have taken my life, but God was watching out for me in a big way! I had a elderly lady pull out in frount of me and I hit her going 65 mph. She did not make it. Heal up, and than we will do some hunting!

I am from Grandview, a little out side KC. I would love to go hunting with someone that is from this form. As of right now I do not have a hunting partner. My old partner drown duck hunting a couple years ago and he was the only person that was as passionat about hunting as I am. I did not think so many people on hear where from Mo.

Central Missouri, a small town called Vienna. Never had any luck calling coyotes, but have called in a fair number of fox and bobcats. If someone wants to try some new ground, give me a call and we can hook up. Most of the land is along the Gasconade and Maries rivers (both the Big and Lil'). Have several thousand acres available.

I'm in Arkansas right now but the early part of next year I'll be in Springfield for school.

Would love to hear of some hunting areas up there, or meet up with some of you guys for a good coyote shoot somewhere.

Instead of using the board as a chat room, PM if you want to. I need places to hunt up there, and need to find some huntin buddies.

--While I'm thinkin about it, a bunch of you guys seem to be relatively close to Springfield. What can you tell me about Mark Twain? If you could tell me much about yote huntin, turkeys, deer, anything, it would be greatly appreciated.

Mark Twain has some excellent hunting as far as deer and turkey! Turkey hunting for sure, and there is really not much pressure on the week days. E-mail me at sullie@luckylumber and I might be able to help you out! I fiqure there is some good coyote hunting there too.

I am new to hunting the Sedalia area public ground no luck yet finding sign of scat or tracks yet... I haven't see any other hunters there yet.

Concordia public ground in Lafayette Co 30 miles NE showed two bobcats and a coyote in early spring this year -too bad they were out of season!! Have seen lots of sign of them in there year round! LOTS and lots of hunting pressure there though...

stasheo, most the public areas around here get alot of pressure. You might try Marshall Junction WA about 15 miles north of you off hwy65.I've killed a few yotes there late in the season but don't hunt the public areas much. You'ld probably have better luck down around Truman lake as there is in excess of 100,000 acres of public ground, with some of it being pretty remote. hope this helps.

Sullie, no wild hogs where we are at, but they do have them on Ft. Leonard Wood which is about 40 miles South of Vienna. We went on a late season muzzle load hunt on the fort two years ago and saw several sows with litters. They let you shoot as many as you want whenever you see them. JDM, give me a week or so notice and I will try and get it lined up. I work every other weekend, so let me know what works for you and we will give it a try.

ellinton area. to give a better ideal its 60 miles from Salem, Farmington, and Popular Bluff. broke in my varmint equipmint yesterday, story in calling in the east. also got a few others to sign up from here but i never see them on here. VX

I Live in St. Louis County.
I went locating Last Saturday night on two different CA's. I had no luck. I tried bassically using short barks and howls to no avail. I was hoping they would howl in response. I am going to try and locate/scout the national forest at some point this weekend. Does anybody have any tips on locating? are distress calls better than howls at this time of the year?

Dawg,
Vienna is a great part of the State, The opening day of deer season (firearms) is a great place to come back to after a hunt just for the dinner at the Methodist church. I bet there is good coyote hunting in Maries Co.

Man this post has been going for a couple of years now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Varmint Savage,
I'm in S SL County, I used to hunt down south on Ft lost in the woods though. I usually just fish down there now. But I would like to hunt there for some predators.

I would like to take you up on that offer later this fall. I still haven't taken a bobcat or fox yet.

Crazywolf, We still need to get that hunt going. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Dawg,
I've hunted Spring Creek Gap for the last two deer seasons! My wife is related to the Shockley's, and to Lawrence and Idelia Parker.
Have you predator hunted at Spring C.Gap?
We should hook up sometime for a hunt.

Varmit savage,
I am just south of you about 45 miles.
Saw a coyote on the way home on the Z highway and did not stop in time to get a better look at it.
We should get a few of us together for a hunt up towards stockton area soon.

DLS,
Yeah this post has been going on a while.
Are we going to get Tonk, Handishooter, and all of us together for a hunt this fall?
Lets get something going!

DLS - You're on, I'll look forward to the hunt. I'll drop you an email one weekend when I'm off. What kind of time frame are you looking at, next week, next month???? We usually see a couple of cats ever year just during normal hunting, Red fox have really made a comeback in our area. I have one that has a den within a couple of hundred yards of my house. My Walker pups and beagle run it almost daily and I have seen it cross within 20 yards of my house close to half a dozen times. It just keeps making the same big circle. I'm afraid to turn my big hounds loose, as I am afraid it would make it very long.

MO cottontail - I have never personally hunted the Spring Creek area, but I have seen many yotes there. Usually, when we get into that area, it is to catch dogs and get back across the river. One of my good friends has some family in that area. Send me an email to kahayes@socket.net and I will try and forward you a picture of one of his hunt's last year. 5 prime yotes and one 31 lb bobcat.
