How tough are Nikon scopes????? Might have an issue

Because it's a used scope. If you want a NEW warranty, you gotta buy a NEW scope.

And I bet you wonder why used cars don't have the factory warranty?

I have several prostaffs, dollar for dollar I love them!

I have friends that sell at Amazon, let's just say, it's been handled a LOT... and I mean AFTER it got off the Chinese Junk! Probably carefully, but a lot!

I'm not going to get in a Nikon / Leupold / Other Brand peeing contest with you. It ain't worth it and it's been done dozens of times on here already. I think Nikons are the best deal out there. I don't bash other brands except to tell personal experiences and then I tread lightly. If you are a Leupold fan that's great. Feel free to tout their quality and give your highest recommendations. You won't hear any complaints from me.

A few years ago I was on my mule running thru a pasture.
Had my AR with a Nikon Buckmaster across my lap and hit a good bump.
Rile bounced off my lap and onto the ground. I ran over the rifle
and scope with the mule.
Took it home, cleaned out all the crap and tried it out. Still dead on.
A few scratches and that was it.

I was so impressed I ordered a couple more for other rifles.
I've had no problems.

I can't compare to all the other brands as I haven't had all the other brands.

There are almost two pages of Nikon refurbs scopes on the new Natchchez flier, Almost 700 dollars for a few of them with a 90 day warranty, just dont make sense to me, Im not knocking Nikon, just saying their confidence cant be very high in their repairs. ed

Wouldn't know about that. After hunting HARD for 30 years I've never had a Nikon problem. So I can't attest to their repair practices or longevity.

Regardless of brand, one would have to be a complete fool to buy a riflescope with (only) a 90 day warranty. Especially given the other options at one's disposal.

JMO....

Ive seen a few issues with the prostaff models. Each time they fixed or replaced it no prob. I personally have owned 3 prostaffs and 2 monarchs. No issues with any of them. I dont baby them at all. My fav are leupold, they have been rock solid for years. Nikon prostaffs are a good deal for the $. Lots of good low $ options these days. Not sure Id use them to take a shot at a foreign leader from 1000yds after HALO jumping in.....but id definitely hunt coyotes with them.

If you've personally had a bad experience or an issue why not post your personal experience? We'd all appreciate the information. It's always good to hear first-hand experiences with a product. Which models have you owned and how did they fail or not meet your expectations?

Thanks for the info guys! Just wanted to give a quick update since I finally got to sight the rifle in on Thanksgiving day. The scope turned out to not have an issue. Below is a picture of the first two shots after just bore sighting by looking down the barrel at a door knob and moving the scope to it. Turned out to be and 1.5" high at 100 and almost dead on left to right (accidentally put the target on upside down)...not bad for using the old method!

Here is the coyote I shot the next morning with the Savage 11 223/Prostaff setup. (Sorry for the blood in the pic!)

Overall I like the scope so far for what little I have used it. It's pretty dam clear and works well in low light too. Thanks again for all the info!

Thank ya! Pretty happy to get some use out of it this early! For their cheaper model that thing sure does pick up light real well. That coyote was shot when the light was pretty scarce and i had no issues at all. Hope it continues to perform well!
