Eddie,
It is my understanding that they make those Axium stocks out of 2 or 3 different materials, which Axium stock is that one of yours? I think they look awesome and eventually want to turn one into the Axium if I do end up getting the Howa.

I wrote the load I run down for you. 40 Gr VMax, CCI SR primer,Win brass, 27.0 Gr Varget should be doing about 3550 fps. Also run the same load with my 40 gr Bergers.

I have looked a the axioum a couple times and love the stock but the only ones I can find are in a bull barrel. I went down that road once as a calling rifle and wasn't pleased. The heavy barrel and light stock made it want to swap ends on me all the time, when, carrying it on a sling. Now if they had a standard barrel like my Ruger I would be all for getting one.

I have the Howa 1500 Varminter Supreme in 204 in the Thumbhole stock-It is my favorite rifle. It shoots everything well or great. I also like their 3-position safety.
My trigger needed some work and the importer (Legacy Sports)told me to send it to Ultimate firearms /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gifin Michigan (www.ultimatefirearms.com attn Ken Johnston 1-517-349-2976). They use the 1500 to build their own special bolt action long range muzzleloader. The turn around time was 8 days and only cost me about $80.00. They add an screw, keep the factory safety and according to the importer it will be even safer than before and my trigger is set at 1 lb 12 oz with no creep or overtravel.

If I get another 204 (for my wife or grandson of course /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) I would get the same set up again-it's great.

You cant go wrong with the Hawekeye, I dont own a 204 but my 77vt in 243 is the real deal 5 shot dime size ragged holes all day .60 on the last group

it is a axium composite a little lighter than the aluminum. its not an axium barrel though it is a regular howa stainless 1500 saves a little on weight im sure the gun would shoot 5 shot 1 hole if you could hold it
