anyone own a howa with axiom stock. have one in 243 with hogue. thinking about a 308 with aziom. my 243 is tack driver. have old savage 110 in 308 thinking of cutting it down to 20 and recrowning it for truck gun.
 
I can't say about the Axiom but I can heartily recommend cutting down your Savage. I used to have a Savage Model 10FCM Scout rifle in .308 as a truck gun. The barrel, as I recall was 20" and gave good accuracy with a Burris LER scope. Very handy to fire from the cab which is legal in SD when shooting at varmints, coyotes included. The detachable magazine was great as it could be kept loaded on the dash with the rifle in the rack allowing for a very fast load/shoot without having a loaded firearm in the truck.
 
My Savage model 10 carbine (.308) has a 20 inch barrel and it is great my only complaint is that it is super loud witch i knew it would be. Make sure you get a good gunsmith to do your barrel work.
 
the 308 is a shooter, when it was my cousins he said, watch I'm gonna hit the red dot in the middle of the target, then did it.
