HSM AMMO/BLACK HILLS AMMO, whats the best?

How does this stuff fair? As mentioned in a previous post, I'm gonna be doing some prairie dog shooting and I need some factory ammo to get started. I prefer new brass for one, otherwise, shoot. I still don't know whether ta get the .204 or .223, hopefully your posts will push me to what I need to find in about a month.
Oh, yeah. Bothe are nice but its not happennen. Please help me out

hsm or black hills are both good ammo, black hills is more readily available at your local gun shop, as far as caliber selection 204 ruger for sure if you are doing alot of p dog hunting better range flatter shooting it will usually do anything a 223 will do but better
just my 2 pennies
 
Black Hills would get my vote. I have shot ten's of thousands of rounds without any problems. Can't speak for the HSM.

Another brand you may check out is Ultramax. They are reloads with once fired brass, but I have had great luck with them when I can't find Black Hills blue box. They use Lake City brass and don't qoute me on this but I think the HP projectiles are all Sierra's.

Ultramax. 52 HP.s or 55 SP.s!

Doesn't make a bit of Diff, from BH's as far as I can tell!

I've shot them all, I like availability! From my sources, the Ultramax (as far as the REMANS go!) are more available
than BH!

Scheels went up 10$ when I called in yesterday on thier 250 bulk packs! 84.99! from last year. 55 SP.s!
 
I shoot both .204s and .223s for PDs. In previous years, the .204s really shined for those long shots and allowing you to see the hits in a higher powered scope.

I recently had a .223 custom built for shooting lighter bullets and maybe able to stretch the range out a little over my older one. I've tried numerous brands of ammo out of my old 16" 1/9 barrel .223 AR and have only found one that really stands out accuracy wise and it's almost impossible to find anymore.

Black Hills shot pretty well, just a heavier bullet than I wanted.

When I first started with the .204, I bought a few hundred rounds of HSM .204 and while I didn't have any problems with the reliabilty, it wasn't quite as accurate out of my rifles as the Hornady 40gr.

I've been reloading for both calibers for the last year and haven't shot any factory lately.
 
So, is the .204 just as good or better than the .223 on coyotes? Ballistics are one thing, its just good to hear experiance with these guys. Is there a factory .204 out there thats good enough? Either way thanks to all! Alot of people use this site! Hoofda!

to 400 yards the 204 will mirror the trajectory of the 223 shooting a 35 gr bullet, beyond that point the higher BC of the 204 gives it the advantage, but if you want max range, step the 223 up to a 69-75 gr bullet, in a fast twist and it'll outrun the 204 by a good margin.
For just normal PBR shooting the 204 does shoot flatter than the 223.
