I saw on the news a Wisconsin hunter got kicked off some private land, then came back and shot 6 or 7 people and killed 5 of them? anyone else see this?

Terrible! What a disturbing incident.

Even though all of the facts have not been sorted out the media, at least MSNBC, has already made it a point to say that the suspect was armed with an SKS assault rifle. This is not going to be good for resposible hunters and shooters! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

My wife told me when I got home from Deer hunting last nite.First thing she says is,they said the guy used an assault rifle. This morning on the news they showed a picture of the guy,he looks asian,Hmong probably.I supposed Gov. Doyle will jump on this for his anti-gun agenda along with Fiengold. What I dont understand why these hunters didnt shoot back,it would have been more than justifiable, but I suppose it then would have been turned around on them as a racist issue. So now we can wait and see how one freaking nutcase will screw it up for the rest of us. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

That is terrible. You guys are right. The antis are going to have a field day with this one. Wouldn't suprise me if some asian rights coalition got involved and tried to turn the whole thing into self defense from whitey "gaining up on him."

Well Communist News Network(CNN),just had a thing on it,and they had a legal analyst on there talking about how do you know what kind of people do this and how they aquire guns or even hunting licenses. They said surely something will need to be done to prevent things like this from happening again.

My guess is WI. is going to become a staging ground for the Anti-gun agenda, they'll probably start making every hunter take a phsycological evaluation before you can buy a license or firearm. One thing I've noticed through the years putting the firearms issue aside and not meaning to sound racist in the least, but there have problems with the Hmong population when it comes to game laws and property.I know on the the piers on some of lake michigans shoreline there have been disputes with these people over fishing spots, with them feeling they own certain spots.I've seen articles in the paper over the years pertaining to game violations with these people also,I think they come from a different lifestyle and are having difficulty adjusting to our laws, and must realize this is how it is here.I know all the facts arent in yet,but would be willing to bet the guy just doesnt comprehend private property, and felt he had the right to be there because he was there first,on top of just being a nutcase. It'll be interesting how this plays out in court and how the defense will play this.

A friend of mine in Neshcoro Wi told me that they have problems with the Hmong people as they do not obey Fish and Game Laws or respect private property rights.

It is truly sad that someone did not get off a sniped shot at this nut case, but chances are that they were seen by him in their hunter orange vest.

I have also noticed that the asians break many game laws.I lived in Biloxi,Mississippi for 21 years on opening day of shrimp season they would take every fish-turtle-bird,you name it they were constantly in the news for breaking game laws.
They also thought they owned the gulf of mexico,i was fishing offshore with a friend ,when over the marine radio a shootout with some vietnamese was going on.They were well known to shoot at other boats if they got in "their" area.

I'd have a 50 caliber semi auto just waiting for that senerio,>they'd only shoot at me once!!

I to can't believe nobody shot this guy.
I do sometimes get a funny feeling on public land around other hunters .I didn't hunt much in mississippi there are some people there who think the public land is theirs.I've heard some of the redneck hunters talk about how they "scout"for deer>>wherever their's a food plot that's where they turn the dogs loose.
Like someone said a few idiots make us all look bad,and the media loves to stereotype us all together.ME

I think it's gotten to the point where our politically correct society and judicial system has crippled the ability for a person to justifiably protect himself with deadly force, leaving you second guessing yourself and the situation at hand.Because of the repucussions that will befall you if you do protect yourself. So in the end the vitim remains the victim and the suspect gets a fair trial, while the dead get no 2nd chance, and said defendant gets some reduced sentence with a bunch of legal wrangling. If you defend yourself, the defendant lies and gets it turned around on you, getting you into legal trouble, and himself less of a sentence, basically dragging you down with him.
So in the end you get the liberals jumping on the bandwagon demanding the government do something about all this, and eventually giving away more rights and turning everything into a government dependant society. This whole thing has opened a can of worms, and the repucussions to follow will no doubt affect us all,and the victims will probably jump on the bandwagon of anti-assault weapons so this doesnt happen to anyone else.Although my heart and prayers goes out to the vitims and there families,I feel this is going to be twisted around with feelings instead of the fact that a nutcase went bannas plain and simple. But it probably wont play out that way with what has been plastered on the news.

The article on CNN's website says "the suspect was armed with a SKS semiautomatic rifle, a common hunting rifle." Huh? I'm sure a few people hunt with an SKS, but a common hunting rifle? Not hardly.
They also say "there was just one gun between the eight people killed or wounded". Don't know if that is accurate, but if thats true, no wonder no one was able to shoot this jackass.
No matter what though, this is REALLY bad for all hunters and shooters. Especially coming only a couple months after the "assault" weapons ban sunsetting. Now all the Anti's will be coming out of the woodwork screaming "We told you this would happen!" What a sad day for these poor families and law abiding hunters everywhere.

What FOX News stated was that the suspect came down out of the tree stand and left, only to return and hunt down the victims. Later he was escorted out of the woods by other hunters who did not know anything about the shootings. I guess he had run out of ammo.

Our local tv station out of mpls said he was using a 30-06 but rumors now say a sks.He was reportedly Hmong, 5 dead 3 wounded reports say he shot 1 guy or 2 and 1 of the wounded called for help on his radio bringing the rest of the crew in .It isnt clear on if he called and just said he had been shot or if he said someone was purposely shooting at them but one report says he took the scope off his gun and chased several of the victims down

At least he didn't bayonet anybody. I'd hate to have to surrender the bayonet off my SKS.

I don't think the shooter can claim this was an accident. Even if you can't see well b/c of squinty little eyes, everybody knows deer don't yell, "Get outa my tree you f_____g little bast__d!"

Realistically, you gotta figure that this guy was gonna snap, whether he used a rifle, or his car, or whatever. You gotta fault the mind, not the tool. The tool is moot.

Prayers go out to the 5 families forever changed by this psycho. For them, justice will never be served.

Regardless of the details. It's a black eye for all of us I'm surprised Wisconsin didn't immediately close the remainder of the season. Good God, are there no end to this things? We're beleaguared enough already. I have my own ideas on these thngs, but some would consider them racist so I'll merely shut up, but it is very saddening. Best wishes.

I'm following the story here on the internet since national news coverage is pretty week here.

One of the things that crossed my mind is maybe this wacko went out there with the intent of shooting hunters or looking for an altercation? The fact that he had a hunting license on his back and limited ammunition might not support this but then people who are unstable from the get go don't always think their actions out.

I pray for the families of the victims in this horrific incident and hope swift justice will be served against the individual at fault. Surely this will affect all legal hunters as a whole when the anti's come marching in protest. A black day for all legal sportsman and woman everywhere.

What a shame...
