Hunting Business Cards

I'm going to start tring to get permission to hunt some farms out my way and I hear a business card wouldn't be a bad thing to have. Can anyone give me a link for a good permission slip? Also can I see some bussiness cards. Any tips would be great.

There is a site that offers like 250 free business cards, they do this hopping that you are satisfied with there product and service, I used to get there E-mails all the time. My sister started her own little business so she tried them out and they were perfect. If you have trouble finding them let me know.
We also use OfficeMax (CopyMax) they print 500 cards for like 28.00
Someone once mentioned posting you cards in your Ag stores as well

You can make your own using MS Word or such programs. They don't have to look as slick as my professional business cards but neat and responsible enough to cause the landowner to view you differntly than all the other nimrods who knock on the door.

I am looking to do the same thing,

I think the site that offers 250 free buisness cars is called Vistaprint.com.

I want to do something like what Calypso did on the first one with the pic of the coyote, vista print only has designs to put on the cards and no pics,

So i was wondering Calypso, what/who did you use to make the card with the pic of the coyote?

I used ProVenture business card software. Any software that will do business cards will work however....

FYI-VistaPrint.com will allow you to load your own graphics and design your own cards. It is not free however........just their basic designs are free. They give very good service......I use them for business.

This is the card I made up using word doc label maker. I have it set to print 10 cards at a time. Just put cart stock in the printer or better yet place bussiness card stock in and hit print. Really easy. If you want me to sent you the page send me a e-mail, all you would have to do is add/change phone number, name, e-mail or anything else you would want.

The question has a risen about using the PM logo on business cards for personal use by members.

Our policy is real simple. Unless your a Moderator and Pro-Staff, the logo cannot be reproduced for any reason unless permission is received from PM's governing body.

In regard to business cards this is especially true and this is our thinking.

Lets say a member uses the logo on a card. Said member obtains access to private property to hunt and something happens, i.e., cow gets shot, gates get left open, a fence gets damages or any of a million things. Having the logo on a card shows an association between PM and the member where PM could be held liable for any damages. It's just best to be safe than sorry. We are just protecting the website.

I jsut read you sent me a e-mail. Our server is having trouble and the e-mail portion is not working Please try again. I was notified by someone else in a posting about e-mail being returned.

Keep trying until it works.

In Word go to Tools then click on letters and mailings, then click on envelopes and labels. Then click on the option button in the window that appears. I have Avery Standard selected in the labels product box. Then select bussiness card under the product number ( I used 3612 )then click on OK. the main window returns then click on
New Document. This should give you the layout of the page. To add a picture click on insert from the tool bar. Also using the tool bar you can do the font thing, color, size...

OK I hope this helped. I never had training in this and I taught myself how to use it. There may be a better way but I don't know what it is. Just go in and play around in one outlined box. When you have what you like the highlight tho whole box hit copy the paste in the remaining boxes.

I kind of understand your concern but......not really. Who could hold a web site responsible for an idiots actions? Does that mean a rapist came hold the porn-sites responsible if he gets a tatoo with their logo? We (you) may be famous at the track you run at but knowbody knows PM from adam.
That would be like holding HP responsible for my actions because I printed their logo on my cards!
Heck, I didn't even know this site HAD a logo!

Very interesting subject however. The direction things seem to be going these days you may be right.

On Calypso's card, you see "NRA" member. It gives the landowner a familiar reference, but that's about it. I don't think if Calypso had a mishap the landowner could call the NRA and say hey one of your members just shot my cow, I want some money. I also don't think putting a reference to a website would help gain access anyway. Considering you didn't have to go to any safety classes, training, or have any credentials whatsoever to join, what advantage would the landowner see by allowing a member to hunt?

Although it's unlikely that any legal issues would arise, the liability is still greater than any benefit a member would get by being able to put the PM logo on a business card. You'd be much better off putting "references available" on it so that the landowner could check you out if he had any questions about your hunting qualifications and ethics.

Just two more cents for the pot.
 
I actually carry two cards w/ me all the time. One has my info. to give to the landowner and the other is a mini permission slip that the landowner can fill out and I can carry with me.

Well, since imagestation seems to be wigging out... here's a link to the Word docs I use to create them. You just buy the little perforated Emery business card stock to run through your printer.

You know what Tony, you don't have to use it. I have used it for many years and it has been extremely helpful. I list my NRA/TSRA affiliation because it helps reassure landowners. When I see that I think that the person is more apt to be a safe hunter and shooter instead of some bubba six pack. It is not intended to have any liability message in any form and has never been taken for such. Anything we can do to impart an impression of professionalism and safety to a landowner helps. I can guarantee one thing, the card won't do anything for you except give him an initial positive first impression and a way to contact you...or his friends to contact you. It is up to you to impress him with your knowledge, experience, and ability.

I totally agree with you about putting on the name and/or URL of a web-site you are just a member of. Since that is a moot point now nothing more really needs to be said.

Sorry you didn't like it......different strokes.
