hunting coati

They have them in arizona. Im thinking you can take one a year but im not positive on that. I ran in to a few on the gila river a couple years ago. At the time i had no idea what it was until i found a pic on the net. Good luck

I live next to the Huachuca Mountains in southeastern AZ which have good populations of them. And as Mountaineer mentioned, the limit is one per year.

They get up to 27 lbs. BTW - they also travel in packs. I was on an Army exercise 8-9 years ago and was laying in the woods as part of an ambush. I heard a huge amount of rustling getting closer and closer and next I knew a pack of coati ran me over. This was the first time I'd seen live ones.

I suppose there are those that eat them just like some folks eat coons, groundhogs, etc. I don't how much the fur is worth but I know that folks used to trap them..
