Hunting competition with tranquilizer guns

I have to agree, this is going to give hunting and michigan a bad name. There is a radio station here in michigan that supports Lost Arrow ranch. I am pretty sure they would support his hunt as well. The station is 97.1 and the show is Bob Bowers outdoor world. Lost Arrow ranch is an enclosed hunting preserve. I can almost see how they might get away with this being the animals are privetely owned and not free roaming. But still this is sick and should be delt with swiftly. I for one have hunted a place like this and ended up not taking an animal due to the fact that I could walk up and slap the snot out of one with the back of my hand.

Copy from Eastman outdoors site headline, first page:

MEDIA ALERT

FLUSHING, Mich., June 9 – No formal agreement exists between the World Hunting Association (WHA) and Eastman Outdoors, Inc. (Carbon Express®) or Gorilla, Inc. (Gorillatm Treestands). Recent reports indicated that Eastman Outdoors, Inc. and Gorilla, Inc. are sponsors of the World Hunting Association. Eastman Outdoors and Gorilla did meet with the WHA. After careful consideration of the WHA program, Eastman Outdoors, Inc. and Gorilla, Inc. decided to decline the sponsorship offer from WHA.

Its a start.

Just a thought, how many folks saw this (The eastman press release) before now? If so why didnt anyone mention it? Took me 3.2 seconds to find thier site to send an email but seeing the release I guess they already caught enough crap or just plain didnt want to do it. Listen yall, Actions speak louder than words, if youre not happy with a company or product let em know, dont just gripe about it! Sorry, just my 2 cents. Thanks.

Just sent this to XtremeScents AKA Xtreme sports group:

Dear Sirs,

I am writing to inquire about the alleged sponsorship by your company of the World "Hunting" Association and thier proposed "traquilizer hunts"? If this in fact true I can assure you will have a great number of unhappy hunters who might be inclined to seek out other products that meet thier needs and are committed to ethical game conservation. Your response is appriciated and will be shared with friends and fellow hunters both by word of mouth and on various internet bulletin boards. Thank you, George Sierra, Ft. Stewart, Georgia

Hopefully I will get a response and will share with you all. Now Im no wordsmith so please dont bag on my crappy note. I think they will get what Im saying anyways! Hopefully some of you have already or will be sending emails to some of these companies. Happy hunting.

Last fall there was a deer running around with a plastic holloween pumkin over his head. The DNR said they couldn't shoot it with a tranquilizer dart to remove it because if a hunter then shot it the meat would be tainted with the drug and could cause trouble. Does this "ranch" also allow regular hunting during the season? This is problematic all the way around.

It all seems to be falling in a heap now. The response from ethical hunters across the world has led to the withdrawl of most of the sponsorship.
The "hunting" was to be with bows and dart tiped arrows. Real bowhunters of course are opposed to it and made their veiws clear.

An example of the response the idea has got can be found here

A good thing too, the last thing hunting needs is this sort of rubbish. It is hardly a step up from that clown that wants to start internet hunting.

I hope you are right that it is falling apart but I am not sure that it will. Reason, there is the potential for big money to be made and that is the real reason this idea is being pushed. The sure way to kill it is to inundate ESPN with negative press and negative comments from hunters. Publications like Field and Stream and Outdoor Life want like this idea and can probably be persuaded to lobby against it. But you are right if they can't get any sponsorship I don't see how they can make it happen. Anything to make a buck no matter who gets hurt.

I received this email today

Next thing you know, people will tranq animals and comestically alter them. I see some c cup coyotes and deer with 400 to 450 ranges.
