Hunting coyotes with pups....

Perhaps true, but for “ me “ I don’t like the idea of starving and that’s why “ I “ choose not to hunt during the summer months. Others are free to choose for themselves based on their situations, thoughts, feelings etc. and will recieve no condemnation from me about their choice.

To each his own.

But, starvation is a kindness, compared to dehydration. Dehydration is a very ugly way to go.

I don't hunt them as much from April to September but there are multiple reasons for this. Unless it was a calf killer or other problem coyote, I would never intentionally shoot a coyote that was taking care of young pups. I have no problem with someone continuing to hunt coyotes in late spring or summer regardless of their reason for hunting them. I don't think dehydration or starvation are bad ways to die. Mange and bad infections would be bad ways to die for a coyote. Nature is cruel and death does not come easy or at convent times for many animals or even us as people. Some of the medical interventions we do in health care to keep someone alive that is dying is a much more cruel than what an orphaned coyote pup suffers.

I hunt coyotes mainly for pelts, summer coyotes suck, heat sucks, bugs suck, snakes suck. I don't hunt deer, elk or antelope though when I did I never saw coyotes as a detriment to that, the more coyotes there are the better I like it.. A rancher in need always gets helped.

As far as I'm concerned they could have a coyote season on PUBLIC grounds Oct.to March same as other FURBEARERS. Hunting carp with a bow, fishing, skeet shooting, load development, rifle building and spending quality time with my wife(hunting season I'm gone) are what summers are for. I even told my sister she had to change the date of her wedding because she was going to get married on the opening day of duck season

Coyote hunting for me starts in late Sept and ends in early March. I like the hobby. The hunting i do is within walking distance from my house. If i shot them all, i would be looking for a new hobby.

I don't think you can "shoot them all".
I find if you shoot one, one comes in from someplace else.
We target the old dominant pair. They control most of the breading. If we take them out they ALL breed aka MORE coyotes.
But that's just my observation after close to 50 years of hunting them.

NO SUMMER HUNTING FOR ME NEITHER---ALL CRITTERS ARE RAISING THEIR YOUNG---START END OF SEPT AND DONE MID MARCH---UNLESS MY FARMER FRIENDS HAVE PROBLEM COYOTES I NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. DIFFERENT STORY THAN-----I REMEMBER A TIME MANY YEARS AGO I SHOT A BIG FEMALE ON THE FARM BOTHERING THE COWS CALVING AT THE TIME----WHEN I SAW HER I THOUGHT SHE WAS FULL OF CALF POOP. THEY LOVE IT, LOTS OF MILK IN IT---ANYWAYS I OPENED HER UP SHE WAS WITH PUP'S 4 OF WHICH 2 WERE STONE BLACK WITH WHITE V'S ON THEIR CHEST---FARMER WAS HAPPY-I WASN'T-----BUT THAT'S HOW IT GOES--
