It's that time of year /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Make a man feel like a kid again. The game seasons start opening here in a couple of weeks and I'm just beside myself with anticipation. I've been Going thru my ammo, make'n some rounds up and getting my gear together for the good days to come. Rabbit season opens the first of october. Handgun hunting has turned in to a real treat for me. There thick up here this year, I see them everywhere, deer to, tons of deer. I haven't heared yet on my "any deer premit" but I think I'll get it and I should hear soon.
Going moose hunting October 9th with my 30 year old son. I've got my 45-70 revolver and Joe's got a 308. The plan is, If the shots within 35 yards, I'll shoot, but any further than that, Joe will drop it with the 308.
Working straight out all summer and it's allmost over, windly days are hunting days for me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You guys making plans for the "Daily Bag"?

Wooo, hoooo!! I feel you joy. 43 degrees this morning and a 31 degree wind chill gets my blood pumping. I feel like a young boy!!!

Hey Woodcock,
Its good to see you here, I missed you and SoDak. Yep, best time of the year is right in front of us.

You can say that again, my coon dogs know its coming soon to, they have been restless as of late, not to mention the fact that I can't sleep thinking of the up coming excitement.

Plus I think I have worn off the finish off my hand calls practicing.......Good season to you all! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Later,

Yesterday was the opener for the archery deer season here in Mn.
I didn't go because harvest is coming way to fast and there's way to much to do!

Bad excuse I know but I did wander out in the woods and checked my trail cam. That is almost as much fun as sitting in the stand, when you see you've got a few pics and can't get back to the computer fast enough to plug'er in to see what you got.

Pheasants are still 6-7 weeks away. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
No deer this year. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
Not yet cold enough for me to want to eat bunnies & bushytails...probably about the same time as pheasant for me.
Started the coyote fun today [6 weeks earlier than my norm]. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I couldn't stand it anymore! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
But I found out I should have went to the range more this summer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hay Greg, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Yup, they'll be a lot of smiliey faces around here right off! I did'nt get my "any deer" permit this year-oh well. I got it every year for the last four so I ain't gonna complain, see'n I got the moose permit /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
My son got his "any deer" though. I loaded up some 45's, 9 mm, some 38's, some 45-70's (moose and deer loads /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)and I bought a brick of 22's. I think my first day rabbiting might be with my model 60 snub nose 38. Rabbits seem to love that gun /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I got to order some shotshell stuff now.

I want another gun again. This time of year always makes me want another gun----or two. I've been day dreaming lately of buying two springfield 1911's GI .45 5", High Capacity PW9701LP Old GI Style. One for each hand /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif There $650 each. I put a $100 away toward them today and I'm going for it. They hold 14 rounds each, that would be 26 rounds per wabbit /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Woodcock,
What is it about this time of year that makes one want another gun /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif. It must be something in the fall air that cause this strange desire /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. In about a month my neck starts to swell and I get this urge to scratch my head on tree bark /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif. Can't figger it out /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif.
