I want to go coyote hunting in South Dakota and am looking for some info. How much is an out of state license cost for coyote hunting? Are there anygood spots anound the Chamberlin Area? Is their anyone that hunts around the Chamberlain area that want to hook up and shoot some coyotes? Looking at possibley coming out this weekend. Thanks for any info. you may have.

That picture of the coyote I posted earlier today came from about 30 miles weast of Chamberlain. There's a lot of coyote in the Chamberlain area. There's not a lot of public land, though. I would certainly hook up with you if I wasn't hunting the contest in Dupree, SD this weekend.

Looks like $40 for a predator license. http://www.sdgfp.info/Wildlife/LicenseFee.htm

There's TONS of Tribal land that you can hunt on the Lower Brule Reservation which is about 20 mile north west of Chamberlain. You have to have a tribal license though.

Check out this map of the Res. Everywhere that is brown with the lines through it, you can hunt as long as you have a tribal license. There's tons of great land.

Or go here http://www.lbst.org/wildlife.htm For a larger picture of the map. go to bottom of page and click "hunting map".

Call the tribe at 605-473-5561 for more info. I think you would have better luck up there and there is a ton of land to hunt.

Hope this helps.

Both of you should wait a weekend or so and let me go with you and act as some what of a guide. I've only been calling yotes for a month or so, so maybe I would learn a lot from you two.

I know my way around somewhat on the res. I was just there hunting about 2 weeks ago. I found some nice hunting land.

Plan a two or three day trip. We could scout around the first day and then hunt the next day or two.

My father-in-laws place is only 15 miles west of chamberlain. He has some prairie dog shooting too. He'd love for us to go in there and clean house.

It's up to you.

To you guys comin to S.Dak. the guy I hunt with works for GF&P,shares a office with one of the state trappers.Who is swamped with calls to kill yotes. So there be lottsa yotes around.

SO.DAK. Thanks for the info. We will be going to Chamberlin this weekend. Maybe we could hook up sometime if things work out in the future. Myself and two buddies are ready to get out of "no yote" southern minnesota and hopefully take a few Dakota yotes!! We callled the reservation and a license on the res. is $25. How much area is on the res.? If anyone wants to hook up Friday late afternoon til Sunday afteernoon let me know. We are open to yotes or pdogs. Hopefully now we will just have a little luck. SO. DAK. those were some awesome pics of your yote and pdogs!! Thanks for everything.

There's enough area on the res. to keep you busy for as long as you want to hunt it. If you have never been up there, you are in for a treat. Let me know how it goes.

Glad I could help. Now don't be taking all of our darn coyotes!
