I am loving my new Redfield 3x9x50 accu

Well thanks to many of you I decided on the redfield 3 x 9 x 50mm with the accu reticle. Had it bore sighted at BPS and it was only 3 inches off at 50. 3 shots later I was .7 inches high at 100 which is where I need to be to be dead on at 200.

I was going to get the 4 x 12 x 40mm but I am spoiled with the 50mm on my other guns. Since none of my shots will be over 300 yards I decided on the 3 x 9.

The 22-250 is a sweet shooter.

I'm pretty sure I read in another of your posts that you are shooting the Savage Axis, correct?
I have the same gun in a 22-250 also and I was looking heavily into getting a Redfield Revolution for it as well. I too was looking at getting the 4x12x40, but interested in why you chose to go with the 50mm scope instead. Do you get a better sight picture through the scope, or what are the advantages of going with the 50mm over the 4x12x40?

For the vast majority of shooters....and I mean the VAST majority, there will be no advantage. Objective diameter is only one of the variables in the equation of light transmission, and it's one of the smaller variables in the equation. Much more important is the exit pupil of the shooters eye. The average exit pupil of the human eye is 6-7mm, you have to reach 8-9mm dilation to see the benefit of a 50mm objective. Those people are far and few between.

Yeah Chupa, but 50mm sells a lot of scopes for the marketing guys. By the way I like all three of my new Redfields.

For the record, I really like the Redfield's. Until a week ago, they were the best bang for your buck optic out there. Unfortunately as of today, they all just went up $40 across the line. The price is what set them apart from their competitors. If you don't already have one, you missed the boat. Still got a killer warranty though.

I agree completely. I was set to get another, but now I'm looking at others. I think possibly the new burris FFII E1. Their warranty looks really good too.
 
I have 2 Redfields, both 3x9x40, one with accurange one without. One disturbing thing I'm finding is that with a clamp type shooting light mount the scope is very erratic with poi. Not sure why this is but maybe the tube is made out of a thinner material and letting it flex some. Those with a Prostaff are saying that they don't have any problems so I just switched to a Nikon this morning so I can see if it goes away.

I'm talking a huge change where you can fire a 3 shot group and not even hit the target and then fire another 3 shot group without leaving the bench or doing anything and the shots are all centered like they should be. Never had this problem before I used the clamp.

Just something to keep in mind.

Edit: Double checked everything to make sure it's tight.
