i broke 4,000 fps with my .204

crow sniper

Finally got to load up some ammo and set up my chrony at the range yesterday. I loaded up benchmark,CFE223,H322 powders the previous week with some mid range loads to see where the nodes were then i loaded up some hotter loads to shoot over the chrony.
These are max loads by my books so start lower ,my handi rifle wont handle loads this hot but the rem 700 showed no pressure at all and it was 88 deg out when i shot these rounds.
Benchmark shows really good accuracy around 27-27.5 grains for me
H322 shows good FPS ,i hit 4,000 with it at max load and pretty accurate as well
CFE223 showed the best speed 4050 fps and a one hole group at 100 yards at max load 30.9 grains so im gonna load a batch up and see how they do at long range.

Those aren't exactly barrel burners. I've shot the snot out of my three and they are going strong. Two CZ's and a Rem. 700.

if you don't get it really hot it should last quite a while.i shot my stock 17.rem barrel out but i put 2000 rounds though it and it still shot hornady but the thinner jackets on berger's were coming apart and went every where.that is cool that they shoot that fast and accurate.

Thanks for the data I have a TC venture rifle 1@10 22 inch barrel. I have shot RL10 39 gr bking into a almost one hole u could cover with a dime. At first I didn't think I would like the rifle wrong I love it. I topped it with a Nikon 6x18x40mm target dot. I have RL10 15 varget benchmark h332 h4895 tac and 2 more. Bullets I have.
1000+ berger 35 gr HP
1000+ bking 39 gr
300 bking 32 gr
600 + rem 40 gr acc tips
300+ nosler 40 gr BT
600 mid south shooters 34 gr HP
200 32 gr z max
500 39 gr speer TNT HP on order..
I use rem 7 1/2 match primer always.
I am needing some used Winchester brass. I don't have much brass. I tried hornady brass don't care for it . Thanks.

It's pretty easy to break 4000 fps at the muzzle with a 32 grain bullet over IMR 8028-XBR. My brother and I just rebarreled a pair of CZ 527s in .204 Ruger. Both rifles shot out, throats eroded, lots of fire cracking. It took a lot of shooting and abuse to burn the tubes out.

I shoot 27.3 grains of Benchmark which is sierra's accuracy load and it cuts holes in my rifle. It is like 3990 at 12 feet out in my Savage, so I just always figured it was prolly 4000 @ the muzzle.

Crow Sniper, that's some really good shooting. You did a good job of experimenting and documentation.

Don't you just love it when those tiny groups appear! The velocity is icing on the cake.

Great job.

Gathered up more numbers for the .204 junkies > rem 700 sps varmint 26" / leupold 6-20x56 VX-L
These are the 34 grain bullets from midway. Target was @125 yards
I see good potential around 30.5 grains BLC-2 velocity is around 3,860 fps
I didnt post a target with the CFE-223 /34 grain bullet because the accuracy just wasnt there .

Get yourself some 26 gr varmint grenades and a jug of TAC, you'll break 4300. You won't hit anything but it'll be fast.

Had one also in predator camo. It was a GREAT rifle for the price and shot awesome.

Pretty good indeed.

Anyone else here worked up loads with H4198 & 32 gr V-max With BR-4 primers? Don't care to share load's or velocity as I am well over max listed data.

All I will say Is with max load for my rifles had exceeded factory velocity and produced sub .5" groups from a couple diffrent CZ527's. My OAL did provide a substantial jump to the lands.

Most accurate load I ever worked up. Not making any recomendations here. Just asking if anyone else may have had similar experience?
