Pretty straight forward. But you have do do something most guys don't like to do. Read the directions. I've had mine for about 6 months and love it. I really like being able to save my load data. I have not used it to its full capability.

Once you learn how to zero it, it's easy. You don't really need to program it. Just set it to auto dispense your desired charge weight and go. That means as soon as you replace the empty pan, it automatically starts refilling it for you.

I have the same model as IDBob only mine is grey in color. That is the problem in high tech, some one always comes out with a better mouse trap. I like my set up and will not go back to the beam or thepowder flow system.

I've a new one too and just used mine twice last week.
Directions could a bit easier, but not much. It's so easy, I feel guilty. I'm surprised how fast and accurate it is.
On my bench I found I needed to move it more than I had planned. Not in the operation--but in the draining of powder out of it when done. It drains easy, but it drains best if you can place it next to an edge of your bench so that the powder drops out of it and directly into it's own can.

I have been useing the charge master combo for a year or so and love it. But I wasn't sure if it was going to be a accurate as a tip scale so for the firt few months I double checked te charge on the tip scale(505 scale) and the charge master was on all the time. I completly trust the chargemaster now. Good Choice. Jason
Has to do with inserting a restriction in the dispensing tube, so that it will trickle one kernel at a time at the end, instead of multiple.
Of note, unless you are checking the accuracy of a any scale with anything other than a lab quality scale, do not believe you are really checking anything...just making yourself feel good about spending the money.
Take the pan off the rcbs chargemaster 10 times. Does it read the same everytime? Also note this is only guaranteed to a tenth of a grain.
Let your chronograph tell most of the story (low SD #'s).

Of note, I purchased two Lymans, two RCBS, and one MX123. The first Lyman was garbage - would not zero and returned. Simply was not accurate. The first RCBS would indicate it was at zero, but was not (call this the floating zero point). Returned for the second RCBS, which was not accurate. Indicated you had 41.5 gr of powder, but you might have 40.6 or 43.2 (checked on RCBS 505, 10/10, & Hornady model M). I still have the MX123, good, but not great.

A .01 of a grain isn't going to make any difference in accuracy! Sounds like you are a perfectionist for nothing.

I used just the RCBS electric scale for years and always checked with my Calibration weights and when i lifted the powder pan off of scale i always had the same reading.. I now have the chargemaster and it works as well as the electric scale i have..
There must be some outside sources causeing problems with some of the others that claim they don't work well. Static electricity or maybe the flouresent liteing or they did'nt take time to read the directions...good hunting..T/[beeep]

After several hours with Lyman and RCBS help line, they were convinced the "dirty" power at my house was not the problem either, especially after I let them talk to the electrical lineman watching my oscilloscope. I just bought a couple of bum electronic scales.
