I may look ridiculous, but it works!

As many of you know, I spend a lot of time during the fall and winter on this............

Looking for these.........

.

I have always wanted to video some of my adventures but I do not have enough hands to video, call and shoot at the same time. I thought about it a bit and decided that since I already have my helmet with me I could simply mount my camera to it and be in business.

I do not have (or want) a Gopro but I do I have a little Fuji XP90 that I bought a few years ago for taking selfies with large dead animals. I bought it because it will link to my phone by Bluetooth and I can take pics, videos and operate the zoom while watching the screen on my phone. Which is a lot better than trying to run around and reposition every time for a picture using the 10 second timer! It also has a decent zoom feature so when I get to a stand I can zoom it in a little bit to fill the frame with my anticipated kill zone. I found a Vivitar mount online for $7 that works just fine. So far, yard testing by stalking my house cats has been successful!

Now I know I will look like a nut if anybody sees me stalking through the timber wearing all of this but a little damage to my ego WILL be worth it for some cool video!

P.S. If I should happen to get jumped by a grizz, it might help a little.

Gastro/intestinal photos of a grizzly, I hope it is something we never get to see.

Great hunting rig.

This all looks great to me! Functionality before beauty is how I look at all my equipment (and wardrobe if you asked my wife haha).

LMAO, I just hid my bike helmet underneath the "tacticool" mesh. They are comfy and you can get some pretty good video.

I shot part of this video from the helmet and the other from my gun cam.

Assuming your not still a virgin, who cares about how it looks as long as it works. My only concern would be remembering to duck the extra inches while going through the brush. Look forward to see the results.

I’ve thought about the mountain bike thing before, seems like it’s worked great for you sir! The helmet will just keep you safer when an owl thinks your lip squeaks are real

Mo, what mount are you using for the helmet tacticam?

Yep, I agree, awesome setup. To me video is priceless and good for memories. Don't worry too much how it might look.

You are living the dream so many others have but never experience for one reason or another.

Looking forward to your videos.

I am using the clip mount that came with the camera, the one that was for a strap. I removed the strap and put some 3M Dual Lock reclosable fastener strip on it. I got the heavy duty 3M Dual lock that will hold 75 lbs. Then I put a night vision counterweight on the other side of the helmet also with 3M Dual Lock.

I like that rig....a buddy and I hunt a reservoir here in Iowa that has mountain bike trails all around it and have been working on some "Tactical Bike Rigs" to help cover some more ground in a faster manner.

jcs271: Looks like the Fisher River area maybe, spent much of my youth in that part of the world. Grew up in Libby, hunted and fished all over the west side of the Divide. For sure keep an eye out for cats and bruins while on your bike.

The two pictures of water are the Fisher. We had super heavy snow 2 Winters ago that forced hundreds of deer down to that Valley and the Wolves followed them. Never got a shot but I got close few times!
