I missed the boat, now I need advice

Brownells ran out of Radius rangefinders, I can find them online, but they want over a $1000. I had difficulty determining range last year at night causing me to possibly let some go, or shoot when they were too far away.

I'm getting a new thermal in October. Does the estimator work well on the Pulsar Trail or should I go with the Apex with built in rangefinder? Or is there another good option?

Thanks for any help.

Mike

I assume the built in rangefinder on the trail is the same as the helion that I have. In my opinion it about worthless for calling coyotes. Takes a little bit of time to to adjust the lines and could be frustrating on something moving. When I tried it using my dog it didn't seem to be that accurate but was probably within 50 yds. My oppinoin would be to just go by the clarity of the coyote in the scope. Maybe try it out on dogs to say 200 yds and find out what they look like at that distance and go by that. But I'd think if you could actually tell you were looking at a coyote it would be within 200 yds.

Love the trail but the rangefinder is no good for calling predators. I would keep looking for a radius at a good price. I have seen posts on some of the predator pages recently on Facebook indicating where to get one. It really is a game changer.

This is what you need. Built in lazer ranger finder with thermal.
Apex LRF XQ38 Thermal Weapon Sight with Rangefinder PL76419

Yes Bob, I considered that option as I mentioned in the original post. It may be the way I go. It is just disappointing that I will need to forgo the new fun options of the Trail scopes. The on board recording and built in battery pack. But last year I had some sit way out there. I'm getting a new Creed and if I have the range, I might just send a pill downrange at them this year.

Fingers crossed. You're right, I have time. I don't start hunting until fur is good. End of October at the earliest.

Seriously, I'm sure there will be more made by silencerco, even though they exclusive sell to Brownells. They're are both great companies and I'm sure they'll get some more out

How would you trade?

SilencerCo has scrapped the Radius program altogether. This comes right from my contacts at SilencerCo. That's why they were so cheap in the end. Strictly closeout items. Better bite the bullet and buy them while they last. If there are anymore floating around still.
