Ive got a Ruger Hornet great rifle I like H110 45gr. Sierra SPs and 35gr. V-maxs. Got a bobcat with the Hornet this season one shot stopped him at 65yds. Im like most you you guys I could not live with my Hornet. ~Marco
I have a Ruger Hornet Target model. I was somewhat disappointed in its accuracy at first. I then tried some Hornady 35 grain Vmax and it tightened up considerably. It was the best factory ammunition I have put through it. I still use it and have killed many woodchucks out to 200 yards. 220 was my furthest shot and it was leaning against a tractor tire and shooting off my knees. There could have been some luck involved.
I was doing some reloading about a year ago and loaded 50 rounds the load is not available in my head at this moment. The info is at the bench in my shed. At anyrate after loading I went to shoot some at a target. I had seated the bullets just to far out for them to fit in the magazine. So I loaded on in the gun to see if it would chamber. It did with no noticeable extra pressure to close the bolt. I fired three shots at 100 yards and put them all in the bull and touching. I keep that box of loads for special shots now LOL! I think that bunch of rounds do so well because they engage the rifling.
That was a bunch of words to tell the OP go ahead and get that gun. You will like it.
Im getting 3,000fps. out of my Hornet and the 35gr. V-maxs very accurate and hit very hard like I say 12.3gr. of H110 and it shoots like a .223 I use the hornet for 200yds. shots and my .243 with 60gr. HPs for anything eles if the wind gets up I shoot 85gr. BT Speers that bullet will smoke a coyote at 500yds! ~Marco
