I have a Rem 700 Heavy Barreled 22-250 I want to sell.

I want to buy a 16 inch heavy barrel AR in 22-250 specifically for coyote hunting in the 300 yard or less range.

What are my options??? I would like to suppress this as well.

Or should I ditch the 22-250 idea and go with .223?

ditch the 250 you would need a UMAR lower for the ar15 platform or you would have to go to the ar10. For under 300yards get a nice 223 ar and you would be golden...Jason

Or get the 6mmDTI like I did. I'm getting 3529 out of the 58 grain vmax. Better bc than the 22 caliber 55 gr vmax. More mass hits coyotes harder I think.
Only other way to get 22/250 or 220 swift velocities out of a AR15 would be to get a 223 wssm. My brother in law has one and it's a laser and a hammer.

U can get a 22-250 in an ar15 but have to go with olympic arms and its only offered in a 24in bull barrel. If you are dead set on a 16" barrel then a 22-250 is not even an option. You wont see much gain over a 223 in that short of a barrel.

As mentioned a 223 will be better for the short barrel and for your shooting distance. The dti line would also make a good option as well as any of the other 6.8 wildcats. Those are reload only calibers though.

Ok I've given this some thought and think I really want a 22-250 AR. LOL so now I have reason to buy an Ar10!

My question is once the Ar 10 is in hand, What do I need to convert and where do I get? Thanks a lot loving this forum.

I love the 22 250. I hunted coyotes 25 years with a 22 250 and it was very effective. When I converted to the AR platform I did a lot of research and ended up buying a 223.

No one has made a 22 250 yet that is getting good reviews. If you research you will find more are unhappy with their choice than happy with it.

Eventually they will have a good 22 250 AR on the market. If I were you I would take a little time b4 I committed to a 22 250.

22 250 is my favorite round. I want one BAD but will wait until the reviews are better and some more top notch companies start producing them.

I think .223/5.56 is really your best bet. For 300 yards, the .223 will do everything you need it to. You could step up to the"AR-10" platform and get the .243. It will beat the .22-250 in both the trajectory and energy department. If you reload, you can load it down to .22-250 levels.

If you reload, there are other options too. 6x45, 22 DTI, 6mm DTI, 22 LBC, and 6mm LBC.
