I've been told that if it's bought (and serial numbered)as a handgun originaly, it's legal to put a rifle stock on.
It would be prudent to check the rules YOURSELF and not take any chances with experts. Or just get the 16" carbine.
Two more inches of a sporter weight barrel can't add that much weight.
I'll still say that for treed Lions, that little Contender is hard to beat, and plenty accurate.
