Idaho wolves

Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe the Montana Governor should have hooked up with Gov. Freudenthal. Maybe, just maybe, if the Montana and Idaho Governors had supported Freudenthal's plan we might have made a little quicker progress. Its funny how Freudenthal got so much flack for "holding up the process" when his plan was the only real plan that has any hope of successfully controlling wolf numbers. I guess we will see who is hunting wolves first and who will need a license and who wont.

Suffice it to say that this has been a frustrating thing for many of us in the Rockie Mountain region. Lets just hope that this light at the end of the tunnel is really a way out and not just another dead end.
 
If you think the feds are going to let Wy have an open season on their precious wolves with no limits,tags or seasons you are just as delusional as your Gov.,maybe he should just declare Wy. has suceeded from the union and you can have a quick wolf hunt before they shut you down.

to see a complete list of the work the MT F&G has already done in order to complete the delisting process,WY has done NOTHING,that is why they are being left out of the delisting process.Even if the gov decided to start right now you have a couple years of work to do just to catch up.We have our seasons and quotas set,we have a public comment period on those seasons left and then we are done with all the pre required work the feds demmand before we take complete control,we already have new regulations in place that allow ranchers to shoot wolves they catch harassing livestock OR the F&Gs wolf crew will come out and shoot them for them.MT has already killed over 40 in 2007 through the wolf crew or rancher killings since the new regs went into place in 2005.Montana is already shooting wolves,our wolf control program is already working.

MT killed 53 in 2006
Fifty three wolves were killed to reduce the potential for further
depredations in 2006. Of the 53, 2 were killed by private citizens under the 2005 10(j)
regulations and 2 were killed by private citizens who had been issued a permit in the
experimental area of southern Montana.
Delisting aside we have already taken control.

Can you read? Just curious... Cause the WY wolf PRoposal was approved and the animals will be a predator classed animal outside the set boundaries. REad the article and then double check with the feds press release they all say the system is fine.
 
you should post a link to that story of yours here,the feds did NOT approve what the Wy gov wanted,he wanted them in the same class as coyotes everywhere but Yellowstone,no seasons,limits or tags.The feds require a certian amount of breeding pairs in each state,this CAN NOT be regulated with the Wy govs plan,thus it will NEVER be approved.

Go back a page, you are arguing symantics so to speak. I posted the article that Wyoming just got their plan approved on page 1 of this thread. You are correct in what you just said but Wyoming went back to the drawing board and turned in a new plan and it was approved and it does allow wolves to be classified as predator in parts of the state. Just take a look.
 
Thanx Fireball I didnt see your link.Does anyone know if there are wolves in the predator portion of the state,i cant find a map anywhere on their site.

Page 11 shows the wolf GMU's,they cover much more than the map that shows the wolves range in WY.On page 15 it covers wolves killed outside of the GMUs they have to be reported,then you have to take the hide and skull into the FED F&G,not quite predator status,unless you are required to take your coyote pelts into the feds in WY and turn over the skull...
This plan is nothing like the original so the "good ole boy" didnt win anything,they got a "predator" status (NOT REALLY still regulated by the FEDs) in the areas where there arnt any established wolves and if you read the entire plan the GMU areas could be exanded at the request of the FED F&G in the future.

i'll vote for him again and for the record HE is the only demacrat I've ever voted for.
i drive right by the G&F on my way home. hope they are ready to check every one i see in the rest the state in.
don't go up to the area they are listed as big game in often.
they still only list the nw corner as big game but i was wanting all privete lands to be listed as a predator.
nonya i wish you and i could get our way and had the feds remove every last wolf out of our states.
my opinion still is remove them all and in the U.S. we still are aloud to keep our own opinions. I'll keep voting for people who dont back down from anyone. we didn't get everything we wanted but we got enough to live with. more then what the feds tried to give in the beginning.
i know of a pair outside the big game area already and they need taken out. as soon as its leagle i'll go looking hopfully that will be befor they are 50

If you look at the two proposals good ole boy Dave caved in a big way,he did the right thing,that is the only way WY will ever get any control over the wolf numbers.WY should be able to put the same measures in we have now where ranchers can shotts wolves they catch harassing livestock as long as they report the kill to F&G.
 
It is not about Dave. It is about the idea. The major issue in the original plan was around the number of breeding pairs. That was the main issue.

Regardless they got what they wanted. To keep the wolf in a certain area of the state. They are able to be shot on sight in almost 3/4 of the state. As far as wolves in the others areas of the state. They are there. Heck Colorado has had 2 confirmed wolves from the WY packs. Utah is getting them as well. There have been confirmed sightings in 2 areas that I call. The other aspect that was an issue was the feds at one point said 15 pairs outside the parks. If you look WY is only responsible for maintaining around 1/2 that. Either way I can shoot one for free if I see it.
