man i would say 25-06 i have seen my old man drop elk at around 450-500 yards with a 120gr.

longest klls wit 257 wby is a coues deer at 571 yards
longest with 270 wsm is a coyote at 625

I've come to love the 25-06 stoked with a 115g nbt at 3200fps. I've killed many deer from 300-600 yards with none going more then 20 yards. Also took 1 antelope at 550 yards.
If I feel like I need more range then my 25-06, I will grab a 7mm RM stoked with 140g nbts at 3250fps which would do great out to 800-900 yards.
These are mid-long distances to me, and both of these cartridges have never done me wrong. Your results may vary.
