Ideas for engraving (Fathers day gift)

So I want to give something a little more for my dad this year for Fathers day. i got him this gentleman's compass and i want it engraved but not sure about the phrase to use. Any ideas? He is 75, career logger (started with draft horses), and a great grandfather. He likes to hunt. It will be monogrammed on the front...

Maybe just simply two initials then the last name? I had similar stuff engraved at the local jeweler. Seems like a very nice gift.

Everything that I have monogrammed is initials only. I would bet that his new compass is 2 1/2 or 3 inches. 3 initials in old english would look nice. Or script and painted black to match the brunton style to look factory. Nice gift, not many people rocking a compass.
