I am wanting a 22lr pistol for plinking, small game, etc and im stuck between a few choices. Im thinking Ruger MKII or III, Buckmark, or SW617.

So , If you could only have one do all 22lr pistol what would it be? and of course if you hav picks id love to see them.

I have a Ruger Mk I. I've have it forever, and my dad had it forever before that. Great "finishing" gun for those less than perfect shots. Always in my backpack.

Been shooting a M17 K-22 Masterpiece for 36 years so you know what I like. BUT I also own or have owned a passle of Ruger autos over the years as well so I like them all.

But if give a choice of only one I would get a me a 10 shot 617 and live out the rest of my days never wanting for a better .22 handgun.

I got rid of my .22 Single Six and only have this now......

i like the way yall think, im a wheelgun man myself. and i love the 617, crazy accurate and dependable. Just stuck on the revolver vs auto deal. if you notice i only gave one revolver option. LOL

I like my buckmark, very accurate and easy to operate. I have a SS Taurus revolver that sits in the safe since I got the buckmark, I liked it and have kept only because I can run shorts thru it.

S&W K22...

If you don't like the 6" barrel, the 4" K-frame M18 is fine...

If the K-frame is a little big, then the J-frame M63 is a neat package in the "kit"...

I like the Buckmark or the Ruger Mark II. Both are nice and dependable. I don't think you could wear either one out with proper care, especially that Mark II. The single six is fun too. Might have to look at the 617 now!

I have a single six and MKIII hunter both fine shooters but nothing wrong with any of the above. I had a K22 6" that I let go in a moment of stupidity, it was one of my favorites.

Rich,
I have a 5 1/2" stainless Hunter MKIII and it is a fine shooter also. I plan on replacing the front lite pipe with a plain black patridge blade.

My 617 would be one of the last guns I would get rid of out of the 46 I currently own. It's simple and reliable and best of all for a .22 will function and shoot well with any ammo, including powderless rounds.

i use to have a ruger that had interchangeable cylinder for 22mag or lr. loved that pistol till the day someone else needed it and stole while me and my dad went fishing. been meening to get one again.
