If you could only have one 22 pistol

My Fav and now my ONLY .22 is my Ruger MKIII Hunter in Stainless Steel with the Fluted bbl!
She is ACCURATE and RELIABLE
I can hit pop cans off my Shooter stix at 100 yards pretty reliably
and also at 30 yards i have a Steel plate thats 5 in around and I can Rapid fire and usually hit it all 10 shots
occasionaly i will only get 9 on it
If i am benching it i can do 1 inch Gps at 37 yards ( i have my one target set at 37)
I love it and have run just over 3000 rds through it
I did remove the Mag Disconnect but left the LCI
I dont mind the LCI

In case you're still undecieded after a year and a half, I'll throw in with the wheel gun crowd.

Preferably a first gen K22.

I have had a ruger 22/22Mag for about 35 years have put thousands and thousands of rounds thru it. Have have owned numerous others but if I could only have one it would be that gun. Allways goes bang when you pull the trigger and having the option of a 22 mag is very nice. I have taken hundreds of rabbits with that gun as well as other game. Love that gun.

I've had favorites like the S&W model 41 that I holstered and used in the woods, took a lot of squirrels and armadillos with that. High standard Victor was a great competition practice gun, older pre K-22....

But my all time favorite is the Colt Diamondback with a six inch barrel and Hogue Walnut grips, shoots every bit as good as it looks, it's been used competitively for metal silhouette chickens at 100 yards. They are worth a nice piece of change but it's a keeper.

With the stock grips it wanted to slide down toward the muzzle as I would shoot multiple shots, but with these Hogue grips it sits rock solid at the perfect sighting angle. I would recommend that change for any Python.

This has had thousands of rounds through it and taken a full range of squirrels and other much larger game. It shoots hyper velocity rounds like the 30gr 1725fps Aguila superbly, that's the way to get the juice out of a .22 pistol. It's amazing what those do to a coon.

Funny you should mention those hyper velocity Aguillas.
I bought a brick of em with high hopes but haven't found em to be accurate in any of my 22's. Pretty disapointing, cause I really wanted em to work.
I actually gave some away to Rich44 on here but haven't heard how they did for him.
Hopefully he'll see this and chime in.
Glad they worked for you though as I think they're a great idea.

I've got over 40 different types of .22 ammo on hand, several of them are super velocity. I ran everything through over a dozen quality rifles hoping one would do well with one of the extreme velocity ones for a bit of extra hunting oomph, nada, none of the yellow jackets or others like CCI shoots even halfway decent. The Aguilas and other hypers as well shoot very nice in the diamondback.

It might be because the extra case length jams the bullet and brass case into the lands of a rifle, tight match style chambers don't work well because the chamber is actually too short for the case length. The revolvers have straight chambers which may be part of why they seem to shoot better than in a rifle.
 
I bought my wife a Browning 1911-22 pistol and since its smaller she loves how it fits in her hands.
I tried to fire it.. Wow is it nice, accurate, and reliable. It fires any ammo i feed it..
Now i take it on stand as a dispach pistol.
 
I had a single six convertable but I traded it off. I dont miss it. A few years later (1981) I bought a Ruger Mark One with the 6 &7/8" barrel. I love it. Dependable and accurate as can be, with a fantastic trigger.
 
I get tired of hearing how the MK III is not as good as a MK II. I have both and they shoot exactly the same. May not like the look of the loaded chamber indicator, but I do like the mag release button better. The perfect gun would not have the LCI but retain the mag release. There are all steel fillers for the LCI for $8 and when that's done the MKIII is the better pistol IMO.
 
No pics yet but recently purchased a gun that I've been wanting awhile.
- Ruger MKIII 22/45, Talo exclusive with 1911 panels, 4.5" sladside barrel, adjustable sights. Already fixed the trigger and the mag disconnect, shoots streighter than me.

Over the years I've had several..My favorite so far is my Sig Trailside with a Holo sight on it...Lightweight and very accurate with most quality ammo...

I like my buckmark. Has an adjustable trigger and target sights. Not real easy to carry but shoots about every type of cheap ammo I put through it. The Ruger semi-auto I bought my brother is nice too... shoots really well.
