87 vmax was best in my .243 over 39.0 varget .5"+/- @200 yds. Awesome , I'm at 1500' elevation+/- depending on where I'm shooting and guys take this out to 1k and do great. I only shot the above to 500 regularly and stayed sub moa easily
out to 4-500 75 vmax 5-600+ 87 vmax . one of my books shows the 87 with a higher B.C. than 95 ballistic tips .Don't know how true it is but I like the 87's in my 243 wssm.
Really? A solid bullet for shooting woodchucks. I don't see how they would even be a remotely decent choice.
The op also stated ricochet as an issue...
Even more of an issue to never use the solids. Frangible bullets will ricochet less.
Kinda makes you wonder why most bullet companies spent all the time and money in R&D to develop tipped explosive expansion bullets when all along the military fmj/solid bullet was out there. Makes you think.......NOT
No place in predator or varmint hunting for solid/fmj style bullets. None I can think of. Geeze...... plus they shoot like crappolla!
Ive reload both the 58gr vmax and the speer vermit. 75gr hp and their both great bullets for chucks...but on the hard ground....id go with a heavier bullet...Rusty

Please explain why you would go heavy on hard ground. Inquiring minds would like to know.......
