I recieved this e-mail this morning as I could not find my chosen coyote bullet anywhere.

Quote:
The VLC Bullets were discontinued in 2005. The VarminAtor Bullets (un-coated
VLCs) have been discontinued this year for an improved version that is more
explosive. The Varmint Grenade will be released sometime after the first of
the new year. These will be offered in 36 grain weight. You will need to
start from scratch for establishing a load for you rifle.

So if you like VLC's or Varminators you better buy all you can right away.

What a bummer I got one hole groups with the VLC and now they're gone! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I kind of freaked out, when I heard this was coming, since
I had some 100 gr. XLC's in .25-06 Rem loads, and 165 gr.
XLC's in a 300 WSM load, that shot well. I did experiment
with some TSX bullets, in the .25-06, starting in the
fall of '05, and after hitting my first deer with them,
the rest of the XLC's are gathering dust. I have switched
to 168 gr. TSX bullets, in the 300 WSM, and to the 130 gr.
TSX bullets, in .308 Win., and I have some .308 cal XLCs,
also sitting in the bullet rack getting dusty. I really
like the Triple Shock bullets! Although I am always
annoyed when a favorite bullet goes away, and I go back
to Square One, in load development. It happened to me
with the XBT's in 130 gr. .308 caliber. It was Death
to Deer, out of my Savage Striker, but when they went
away, the 130 gr. TSX load work showed much promise,
and it stepped right into replace my Death to Deer
XBT load.

So maybe give the TSX bullets a try. Yes you will have
to go back to load development, but so far, for the rifles
I have switch from XBT?XLC loads, to TSX loads, I have
either equaled, or bested, the accuracy of my loads. The
TSX is just as devestating, or even more so, than the
XBT/XLC bullets.

I got my greatest groups with the blue coated .224s.I havent seen them in almost 2 yrs now. I don't want a bullet that is gonna be non available in my lifetime. Have half a box left I think. They were extremely explosive on all vermin.

I spoke to a Barnes Rep. the other day asked when the #4 Barnes Reloading Manual will be coming out and asked also for data on the 22 cal. and 243 cal. Was told that the only testing that has been done so far for the TSX has been the 30 calibers, the others have not been done yet and that is what has postponed the Fall 2006 Release of the Manual. At this time, the delay has been changed to Fall of 2007. I did express my displeasure and explained that other manufacturers seem to be able to get their collective sh&^ together, and have the bullets and manuals, or at the very least you can call them and they will have the data for you....JOHN
