Imperial Sizing Wax

Let's take it from the top:

There is an outside-the-case lube called Inperial Sizing Die Wax, and there is also an inside-the-neck-of-the-case lube called Imperial Dry Neck Lube

They were/are BOTH made by the Imperial Sizing Company as companion products.

The dry lube (a graphite type powder) goes into the inside of the case neck by just dipping the case neck into the powder.

DON'T USE A Q-TIP!!!!!

You're right about the graphite, but I doubt that the world will explode if someone uses a Q-Tip...

I used to put the graphite in an old Snuse can with some steel shot untill a couple of years ago Redding "Reinvented The Wheel" and came out with a nifty little container (about the size of a film canister) of Graphite and tiny little ceramic beads.. It works great..
Give it a try and if ya like it maybe the Admin. will put it in a sticky,, along with the hundred or so other things that get asked over and over and over again..

I know it can get tiresome, but the repetition is just part of Pred. Masters..
Like it or not,,, that's just the way it is..

BS, I've read this thread a couple of times and I can't find where anybody said they applied the graphite dry lube to the inside of case mouths with a Q-tip.
I HAVE read where several folks commented about applying the sizing wax lube to the inside of the case mouths with a Q-tip. I've probably done a thousand cases that way myself, and it works great! It's just a little labor intensive to go back to each case and wipe the lube out with a clean Q-tip. I recently got some Imperial dry lube from Midway and I intend to start using that now.....without a Q-tip!!

Sorry, but I missed your earlier tutorial too.

You're right, we were talking about the sizing wax.
I mentioned the dry lube first and got things headed downhill.

Sorry 'bout that.

Imperial Sizing Wax is GREAT. I've used it for decades and it's really super stuff.

Redding is owned by a fine man, a hunting partner of mine and all-around good guy, Richard Beebe. He loves Imperial Sizing Wax and has also used it for many years himself. I never heard the story, but apparently he bought Imperial and is now marketing it. The last thing Rickard would do is "improve" a product that isn't broke!!!

Last time I was talking to Richard, he mentioned that he was now marketing his dry neck lube in a little can with plastic beads in it. The beads charge themselves with just enough dry lube and it's simple to just shove a case neck down-and-up and have the neck perfectly ready for going through the die.

Rich sent me a can and it looks like a black 35mm film container and it's chock-full of little dry-lubed beads.

The name on the top of the container is "Imperial Application Media with Dry Neck Lube." It is Reddings Item Number 07900 and the retail price is $9.60.

I have no doubt that our friends at Sinclair International handle it.

After using the Application Media with Dry Neck Lube, I'd never go back to a can full of dry neck lube. The bead method is cleaner, easier and it perfect every time.

That's exactly what I use when I neck size. I used to use a little film cannister with graphite in it, but the Imperial dry neck lube cleans up easier.

One thing worth mentioning. You have to keep an eye on the little .17's with the Imperial dry neck lube media. The little ceramic balls will get trapped in the neck of the .17 caliber cases. It's no big deal, you just tap them out, but worth mentioning anyway.
