IMR 4007ssc

I use it in 243 wssm with 95 gr Berger classic hunter and it works like a dream! When I did my testing I compared 4007 and RL 17 and the 4007 produce just a little better accuracy.

223 with heavy bullets, 22-250, 220 Swift, 243, 6mm Rem, 25-06.

It's a great medium burn powder and very versatile.

RL-17 is great also in all but the 223.

4007 doesn't work in anything don't buy it it's the worst powder out there, it gives awesome accuracy and top notch velocity and it meters ok.

Lol. I'll just dump it then.

I am glad I saw this thread. I was at cabelas this morning and was hoping for varget ( lol, yeah right). But since you guys seem pretty pleased with the 4007 SSC I bought a couple pounds of it.

what range of bullet weight does it do well with in the 243?

seems like this powder is not mentioned much of listed much in bullet company reloading data...

That is because it is fairly new, and loading books go for many years before they are updates.

Tried it in my 7/08 last fall. I went up to a grain and a half over what Hodgdon had listed as max on their website, velocity was slow and accuracy wasn't very good either.

I see.

It did not seem to take them too long to put out a lot of 8208xbr recipes though.

I have tried 4007ssc in 3 rifles. It did very well in a 22-250 and a 220 swift. Not that good in my 7mm08.

The new Hornady 9th edition manual has SOME loads for 25-06 and 338 win.

Maybe its something about the 7-08 that it just doesn't work well with. I am glad to hear it works well in the 22-250 because that's what I bought it for. I seem to get pidgeon-holed down into things I know work for me. For example, W748 in my 204 & 223; varget in my 22-250; 4350 in my 25-06 & 270. Maybe because of the powder shortage I'll find a really great combo I never would have tried otherwise.

4007 ssc is too slow for the 7-08.
