Indian Creek Choke question

I just bought a Black Diamond Strike for my 535 Mossberg, took it out of the package and noticed on the inside it is stepped. Is this normal? It looks like the bore was turned different ID's as a step before smoothing the taper, but it never got smoothed. Is this normal or do I need to exchange it? I bought it local and can take it back if needed, just wanting to check before firing any rounds in it. I can probably get a few pics if needed. Hoping CG will jump in and tell me thats how it's suposed to be.

peace.

Unloaded,
That is the way it is supposed to be. Those machined steps strip the wad from the shot and work great. It's a great turkey choke, I think you'll really like it. Side by side in the same gun using the same load and the same constriction (.665") the IC-BDS gives me about 35 more hits in 10" than my Kick's GT choke. Enjoy your choke, it should be a keeper for you.

Thanks for the info, was hoping you'd see it. Guess I'll try her out in the morning. Mine is .660" hope it does as good with #6 as the 835 does. I've got Hevi-Shot and Win Extended.

Wow, should have took your advice long ago and got one of these chokes. I started out getting my sight close with #6 field loads. Then shot some Hevi13's 3" 2oz #6, first shot nice tight pattern a bit high and right, adjusted sight, next a bit left and still a bit high. Adjusted again and put in a Win X-tended Range 3-1/2" 2oz #6, pattern was right on this time and very dense. All shots were at 30yds and I didn't shoot anymore because my hand was hurting with each shot. I was planning on trying to get a turkey with my bow but hurt my hand at work last week. Shot a bit Saturday and could tell the bow isn't going to happen this season. Thats why i got the choke and trying it out at the last minute. When I heal up I'll put her more through her paces, for now I'm confident in the combo, just have to get em in a bit closer. I can see why you rave about these chokes now. I'm also curious what they will do with 7-1/2 shot at a spot shoot.

peace,

Good deal, glad you like it! I passed a jake yesterday and nearly had a longbeard in this morning but a couple of sassy hens beat me out.

Just and update, shot my first turkey Friday morning, glad I had the choke because the shot was 50yds. Thought I was in for a big bowl of tag soup because the season ends Sunday. He was 19# 11" beard and 25mm spurs. I'll be frying him up tomorrow.

peace.
