Insulated Hunting Boots

Im looking for a new pair of boots for the upcoming hunting season and am looking for some suggestions. Im not wanting to spend more than $150. Im needing insulated and waterproof. Also need to hold up reasonably well to normal use. To me a $150 is a lot of money for a pair of boots so they will need to last me a few seasons. I bought my last pair of boots from Wal-Mart on sale for $12 and they have lasted me three years. Any suggestions?

Thorogood boots # 834-6731 is what I wear, runs about $130 or so. Solid soles, waterproof, insulated. Its what I wear all year round delivering mail. I do burn up 2 pair a year though since I walk about 14 miles 5 days a week in them.
Light weight, soft & no breaking in needed.

Wallymart used to stock some good made boots, but it seems they discontinue them every time I buy a set from them and go look for another set.

I have a pair of Danner jackals I wear before it gets too cold. Very comfortable and light. They are my favorite boots. I've worn them for a couple years and they are still going strong. They are uninsulated and from your post you're looking for some that are insulated. When it gets cold I wear Cabelas whitetail extreme boots with 1200 grams thinsulate. Nice and warm. Comfortable boots that have remained waterproof for a couple of years so far. They cost about $150. Good luck with whatever you get.

Muck boots are a good choice. For 150.00 if you look around you can get a up scale pair of Mucks. I have owned Danner, Lacrosse and several other brands. Muck boots are warm, waterproof and easy to get on and off. I hunt coyotes 9 months a year and my Woody Elites are going into their 3rd season and still look good. My cuz has a pair of the Muck High Cut Artic Pro and he really likes them. You really have to look around to find them for 150.00 but it can be done.

Irish Setters Grizzly Tracker by Redwing. 400 or 1000 gram insulation. Rugged and supportive like a burly, redneck farm girl.

^^ x2 yep these are what i wear..i have the 1000g version...i wear a midweight sock and feet stay warm enough....ive found if i wear a heavy sock my feet sweat too much and i get cold quicker. i may try a different insole in these boots also. i wear a size 14 and they are alittle crampy but not terrible...i would highly recommend a size larger than reg shoe size..my norm size is 13. otherwise 0 complaints, great boots for the price

I have two by Rocky, a 1000 gram & a 400 Gram, also one Irish Setter, 600gram. If you can get two pair and switch off every day they will last a lot longer, and your feet will love you.

thorogood makes one heck of a boot. they are soft yet very durable. high quality leather with strong stitch work. I wore them when I was in the weld shop. 2yrs later they still weren't exactly shot but being on your feet on concrete for 10 hrs a day is killer so I opted to buy a new pair.

For a hunting boot I wear Irish setters. a great boot and you can get a pair for $150-200. Warm, rugged, kept my feet dry and blister free. my last pair I wore for about 6 years and finally had to retire them and buy a new pair this year. Scheels had the irish setter ridgehawks on clearance for $99 (50% off). my last ones were 800gram and these are only 400g but I couldn't pass them up.

I bought a pair of Cabela's 1200 gram thisulate and they are great and waterproof. Just got back from duck hunting and my feet were warm and dry.

I have pair of Under Armour ridge reapers that have been awesome. Comfortable, water proof, and you can find them for $150 now. I would buy ten pairs if I could afford it.

I love my Irish Setter Tracker series boots. I have a set of 400 and 1000's. They both have Gore-Tex brand liners...a must in my opinion...Very warm and always dry.

Danner Pronghorns... which you can get in your price range on Amazon.

Light, extremely comfortable, great support, and with a good pair of socks as warm as you want them to be. Pick your level on the thinsulate. I opted for the 400 gram; they work great for upland bird hunting in the Dakotas, or stomping the prairie for deer. Didn't sit on a stand out there with them in COLD weather, they might be a tad light for that, but the 1200 gram would certainly suffice there. Since I also use them occasionally at work, and to hunt down here in Florida, I shyed away from the 1200 gram as those would be too warm under those conditions. With a lighter sock, they work well in Florida temps, and if it gets COLD down here when I'm on stand, I simply dig out the heavier socks to keep the toes nice and toasty.

Danner boots are worth the money!

I am using the TFX ones now and they do very well. I think they are 400g, but that does fine for here in New Mexico.

Give Danner boots a look.

I have a pair of Rockys with the ratcheting cables and they have lasted five years but you can't go wrong with Danners. I have also heard good things about the underarmour.
