Interesting new personal protection shotgun ammo from Winchester

I saw those a few weeks ago in some hunting magazine.I thought they were pretty cool too.I'd like to get some but I don't know how well they'd work out of my Snake Charmer .410 or what I'd even use them for.But the way I see it is its never a bad thing to be able to say "I have some of those." just for grins n' giggles.I don't know if anyone would agree with me on that but I like to have cool stuff even if I don't really have a use for it.

Regarding the .410 would you be willing use this for hunting now would you use it to defend your life?
I see they do not list MV considering one might get 12-1400 fps out of a closed breech shotgun wonder what MV is out of a revolver 8-900fps?

Nothing against & mostly marketing. Look at all the stuff, ammo & guns, that are listed for 'home defense'. I guess if you have a ranch on the AZ/Mexican border you may need the short barreled AR for protection. I think if you confronted the intruder with an H&R 'Topper' single shot 20 ga with a field 7 1/2 shot you would get his attention. Just like hunting, mindset & methods trump gear when it comes to getting the job done.
 
Mossberg I thinks makes a .410 home defense shotgun.I think it would be good for the house if you lived in an apartment or suburban area. I have a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 that I wouldn`t hesitate to take to the cabin or sticking in the back of my truck. Just like where I live an AR would not be in my top 10 for home defense.
 
It seems to be more of a gimmick than anything. There isn't much, if anything, a 12ga with buckshot won't stop in a close quarters/home defense situation.
 
It very well is a new marketing tool. A 12 is probably better for home defense. But a lot of manufacturers have been coming out with new products for a while now. Remingtons new Home Defense Loads,and such. Manufacturers now box their hollow points in 20-25 round packs and sell them for what you could buy a box of 50 years ago. I used to buy Corbon for $22- $25 dollars a box for 9mm. I can get 20 today for close to the same price. Silvertips same thing. It`s all marketing ploys IMHO.
 
Yeah, I just said "interesting". I agree, there are plenty of readily available loads out there that would do just as good, maybe better. I'd like to see some unbiased tests done with these.

Like John, I get a kick out of seeing the PP marketing in action. Selling a box of ammo with 25 rounds for what you could get 50 for in any other hollow point...wait, they have a special tactical shiny nickel coating, maybe that's where the extra cost is.
