Introducing the new "TT" versatile call -- The "Double Taker"

I have finally gotten my prototypes to the point to pull them all together into a new truley-custom call design. Last night, I decided it's time...

Introducing my new call, the "Double Taker".

It's more than just a new body design (copied from an old duck call, built out of some pretty wood. This new call can be blown as an Open Reed or a Closed Reed. It features an ALL "TT" Voice. When, I designed the Yote Smoker voice, I built it so that anyone can blow it, even if you haven't ever blown an open reed call before. It was 'Kid test...Mother, well...not so approved." /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Here are some sound files:

PS. Jimmie, aren't you proud of me? My first two calls from this new design and they are built out of All American Wood. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for looking...Tony

Tony, That's an awsome looking call. Can you please put on your list when you start producing them for the general public.(or just us special people on the board).
Great work.

you know I had an idea very similar to this! I may throw the idea to you and joe both and see who comes up with the best one! I told my wife about it a few days ago!
they look and sound awesome tony! you need to get prototypes out immediately for testing! know anyone with awesome calling areas!!!!!!!

LOL, you've outdone yourself bud. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I knew ya could do it, but I wasn't gonna tell ya and give ya a big head and all...you know how it is... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif LOL

About time one of you yoyo's got on board /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif Really like the desgin of the walnut. Looks a lot like one of my grunt calls. Now don't tell me you did not enjoy turning that peice of walnut. Jimmie

Thanks for the comments guys. I really appreciate it.

I plan on giving a choice of woods and allowing a person to choose their their combinations. I'll post a selection of woods that I currently have available, later. But of course, I will take special requests for woods that I don't have on hand. The contrast of ironwood and flame maple has me chomping at the bit...

Copperdog, you're on the list.

Bandit, I got you down. Of course, you chose the prettiest, hardest to find, and most expensive woods that I work with. But I think the combination is a good one. I've got enough on hand to make maybe 2 or 3 in that combination.

Joe, You were the first one to hear my pre-prototype of this call, the other night. Thanks for your feedback and ideas.

Heelerdog, Yes...I know. What you don't know, is I was polishing this call while talking on the phone to you, last night. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Glenn, TT Pro Staffer's have privileges. I'll build you one to field test and get it out to you, asap. I like your idea. Joe and I will have fun with the challenge. Let me sleep on it and I'll come up with a solid solution.

River Runner, I'm still working on the other design I ran past you. I think it's a winner, but got to work out the details.

Jimmie, I was thinking of your post, when I chose my woods for these calls. The photo doesn't show it real good, but this walnut has some awesome streaks through it of 4 different colors. I've got some striking black and white walnut blanks drying, as well.

I was a bit worried that the body design may look like a copy-cat, but there was only so many things you can do with a two-part call. I decided to copy an old duck call that I have. I'm not finalized on the body design, yet, as I need to play around with some air pressure ideas. There will be changes, but mostly internal.

Thanks again guys....Tony

Sounds like advertising to me. When did you pay your fees, Jimmie?

Oh god, let's please not go there again! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Go where, Tony? You mean where the rules are for everyone? Why can't we go there?

How do you know I didn't buy the damned thing MOOSE? I've even got a western rivers goose call on the same design.I happen to like that design in two piece calls. Gives them body where the two pieces mate for strength.Even gives a little more wood for embelishments and design features if the turner wishes.

I've been hunting for more than thirty years and have taken most of the game and fish Ky has to offer. A fellow can amass a pretty good colection over that many years. If you think you are the only call maker you are sadly mistaken. There are more than a dozen locally making all manner of calls from waterfowl to turkey and deer.

If you wish to take an inocent remark and twist it to suit yourself , please be my guest!Jimmie

Tony you did good keep it up. i'll order one when i get back from bear camp. i'll call you one of these days. wish therte was more ironwood out there great wood.take care. Rick

If I was mistaken that you were the maker of this particular call, I apologise. It's just that you have stated more than once that you make calls.

In the metal enclosed reed thread: As for wall thickness. A long thin wall gave me a sound that sounded like crap to my ear, but it works like gang busters. When I say long it's about 2 inches. Another call I made for the swap had a thick short wall of a little more than an inch.

In favorite wood for a call: of the hard woods I use dogwood, sugar maple and cherry are the tightest. Jimmie

In the woods thread: Al, I to am choosy about what I turn but not to that extent.

In the favorite wood for a call thread: I have made a number of calls for myself and friends out of a lot of diferent woods native to Ky.

In the perhaps a simple solution thread: I have played around with making and studying calls for many years.

So Jimmie, are you saying that you don't make calls or just not the grunt call mentioned? Richard Grantham was nearly kicked off the board for stating he made some calls for himself and his friends. So what is the difference in your statements? You seem to jump right on the band wagon supporting the advertising rules and then you don't follow them.

So clear this all up for me. Do you make calls or not? If you don't, then don't say you do. If you do, the rules say that you can't say you do unless you are an advertiser. Aren't the rules for everyone?

Paul

Two call makers are surfing around on the internet one day.

They meet up at Predator Masters.

One call maker says to the other call maker.."hey, you remember Rodney King? The guy from the LA Riots?"

"Yeah, I remember him," says the second call maker.

"Remember what he said?" ask the first call maker.

"You mean, 'ouch- man that hurts - hey, stop hitting me - yeah that'll leave a mark - what did I ever do to you -ouch - I said stop hitting me with that stick.' You mean that?"

"No", says the first call maker.

"I mean the part where he said......

'Why can't we all get along'.
