Introducing the new "TT" versatile call -- The "Double Taker"

Some apology! I make metal enclosed reeds just like I make bud vases, candlesticks and bowls for family and friends. NO WHERE, have I ever posted a call for sale or posted the intention of a transaction of any kind.

As a hobbiest wood worker I fully apreciate the work these guys are doing. It takes a lot of effort and practice to attain the skills these guys are showing.I also love good wood and love to see it showcased in it's glory.I will be here to support them come hell, highwater or anything else.Jimmie

Moose57, Jimmie in Ky & all other interested parties,

Just the mention of making calls, giving advise, making suggestions, or comments doesn't violate our advertiser's policy.

The problems start when a call maker posts contact information, a number of photos, or information stating that they are set up to sell calls. For those that may make a few calls for themselves, friends & family, photos can even be posted in the Hand Call Forum with Rich Cronk's prior approval.

Thanks for the clarification Weasel. I hope this issue stops here.

Alot of design and hard work has gone into my new call design. I was getting pretty torqued off that my post was turning into !#@#% session, taking away from my intentions of introducing a new call. If it was to continue I was going to ask you and Kee to delete my entire post.

Thanks...Tony

Now, to get this post back on track...

I will be making some modifications to the call design, as I refine it. I am very open to suggestions. Listen to the sound files, look at the design and give me back some constructive critisism.

Thanks...Tony

I sent my apologies to Jimmie via PM. I also owe you one, Tony. Sorry for hijacking your post. My emotions got the better of me I guess. Your calls are looking good. It's interesting to see the evolution of each call maker's calls over time.

Again, sorry to everyone.

Paul

Very nice looking call, the two-piece call design I like, as you know. This call looks very good in those burls and it looks like it takes a lot of work to put that call together. You have a real winner there. I made a call or two with the open reed in side, but was way to labor intense since I made the reed part out of the bell as one piece.

Yes sir, I got just the place for that one. Hey Glenn I will thumb wrestle ya for it. I tell you what if it sounds half as good as the others Tony has made, well then it will only sound half as good as the others he has made. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Great looking call Tony, you always have something up your sleeve dont ya. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

That top call is a very nice look'er Tony.......I might have to have one of those hard to find woods too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Buckwheat, I take it you tried the arkansas timber call aproach to it. What were the dificulties for you?

We both know what it took for Tony to make that friction fit work right. His skills are definately growing. First time I made a friction fit it was a cherry base with an ash shaft candle stick.I salvaged the first three with a fox wedge in the tennon.Cant do that with a call!!Jimmie

Tony,

That's COLD BLOODED man. I thought we got along and you had to go and ruin it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Dems is bootiful! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif Your title is safe unless maybe Joe has been out to his shop today. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Keep turning those outstanding calls /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Thanks for the comments and information guys. I did some slight modifications today and have turned out a couple more of these calls. I'll post some pictures when I get a small batch of them.

Thanks...Tony

I made a couple of open reed calls but all the work was not worth the open reed sounds to me. I can get tons more sounds out of the reed set up I use and I use it as an open reed call when ever I like. At one time, I even thought about asking Russ at Hogback calls if I could use one of his reeds in my calls. They would fit right in and all is I would have to do was drill the hole for his reed. Some day I might try his reed just for the fun of it. I posted a picture of one of my open reed calls were the reed is part of the bell this will answer some of your questions. I still used the rubber o-ring but just one to help hold the reed and the call together. I have posted a picture of one call in my gallery if you would like to see it. You can click on it to keep enlarging to get a better look if you like.
I am only going to let it posted in my Photo Gallery for a little wile since I am not selling any of these calls.

Ernie, I see it's similar to the arkansas but with a lot less radius to the bridge. It also looked like you used a wider channel as well. Thanks for the view. Jimmie

Just a thought on a two piece "friction" call.

Would a groove, with a rubber "O-ring" on the "male" end. Hold the two pieces together more firmly? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kirby,

The reason I didn't put that into the design, is generally you lube up the O-ring on a call like that. I personally would use the call in the open reed form, 90% of the time, thus wouldn't want a bunch of vaseline on me.

I've got some bells that don't quite fit right, I'll try the O-ring idea on them and see for improved fit.

Thanks...Tony

they make a silicon based lube that is not greasy I put some on a grunt tube that worked great!
THE LUBE KING! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
