Monday night, Trump’s top nuclear negotiator with Iran, Steve Witkoff, dropped a bombshell of his own that revealed why Trump ordered this all-out assault on Iran.
Witkoff said that the Iranians kept refusing to negotiate a new deal to give up their pursuit of nuclear weapons, and even turned down an offer of free nuclear fuel for peaceful civilian purposes, which was the alleged reason we were told under Obama that they wanted nuclear reactors.
Witkoff said the Iranians proudly and openly admitted that they had evaded Obama’s oversight protocols, they already had enough enriched uranium to make 11 nuclear bombs, and that was where they expected the negotiations to start. So the choice was to accept a nuclear-armed Iran or annihilate the threat now. (We suspect this is what Chuck Schumer was told in that meeting last week that left him looking shaken and atypically at a loss for words.)
In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity,
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu backed that up, saying that this attack was unavoidable because Iran’s regime had not given up its drive to build nuclear weapons, and they are “unreformable” and fanatical “about the goal of destroying America.”
Netanyahu said, “If no action was taken now, no action could be taken in the future.” Iran was building new underground bunkers that would have made their atomic bomb program untouchable within months. After that, they could have blackmailed the US, and threatened Israel and everyone between Israel and the US.
He also laughed when asked about claims by the left and some fringe elements of the right that Trump is Israel’s puppet. He called that “ridiculous,” adding that Trump is “the strongest leader in the world,” and he “does what he thinks is right for America. He does also what he thinks is right for future generations.”
