Is it time yet?

Trying to hold off till the end of the month at least. It's still in triple digit heat obviously here in the Mojave desert. I have a new Howa 1500 mini 6 ARC. This will be my first season for this rifle. Who else is already chomping at the bit to get after them coyotes.

I'm getting hot to trot to get after them, more so with the mini cool down we're getting right now.

Heat & humidity is coming back here shortly, so with that & the full moon on the way, it might be a couple weeks yet.

Got up early yesterday morning (0430) and it was a balmy 82 degrees and didn’t hear a single coyote. Checked some areas for tracks after daylight and found none.
We will start mowing the main roads and dove field in a couple of weeks, so that will help. When we start burning the dove fields it’ll open up more areas I can actually see in and the coyotes will generally start checking those fields out.
I have one hog that I know of and it’s intermittent at best. Coons, possums, and dillas are about the only game in town and I have to check the pines we lease out for pine straw to even see those!! When my son gets back they should have plenty of targets of opportunity to go after.

I don't usually start until the daytime temps get down into the 70s. Usually in Nov. BUT I'm working up new loads for the 20P, have a fun coyote load for the 350 Rem Mag. Spending time practicing from the chair and cross sticks and tripod.

Got rid of the 90-degree temps for a while. Saturday at dawn it was 56 degrees. Hunted all night and should have stayed in bed. 6 sets, nothing seen or heard except a bobcat. This mourning it was 51 degrees when I got home at 6:15. Started at 1am. Did see 1 at about 350 for ~10sec when it stepped out of the woods to my first howls, so I guess there is one still left in PA that Mick hasn't shot :) . Saw another bobcat though. Weird thing is-haven't seen much of any critters except dodging deer IN THE ROAD.

Hard to stay motivated with the luck you've been having Mike.

Maybe I'll use you for a barometer on when to start....ha ha.....

Al, you better not use me, I know I only have one working eye, but I am beginning to think that neither of my ears work even with my aids :ROFLMAO:

hunting when it's hot is pretty sparse for me however, I got one on the 23rd, a farmer had them coming in during daylight hours. We had a cool front come so I went out this morning but no good. Looking forward to the harvest ;)

I'll start after Sept. 1st, but we are at least out of those mid 90's days. This 5-day Nor'easter is keeping it into the 80's thankfully.

I love it as much as anyone, but 75 degrees is my limit. Just something about drenched in sweat and covered in bugs that just doesnt do it for me. And theres no chance i am going anywhere in shorts and cutoff tees like the guys on youtube do, id have so much poison ivy….

May is my favorite month, into june until the weather doesnt cooperate anymore

Yesterday afternoon (1pm) sitting temp. Driving was between 111-117 as the day progressed and location.

...work....work.....work.....work....work...work....off(and just too darn whooped from working in a boiler room that's 95-120° for 10 hrs a day)
I still manage to get a couple quick hits in .. and have had good vocals but end up backing out because time restraint.

At least you got to hear some Ron.

I usually try to hold off until mid October but we went scouting for geese yesterday and saw 8 dogs out and about. Trigger finger may get the better of me as soon as the hot weather is done.
