Hey guys, may i try to put some of the rumors to rest about the st. francis hunt. let me start by introducing myself as i am the head coordinator for the midwest coyote calling event in st. francis, ks. I can say with complete confidence that there has never been and never will be a contestant or team that has flew in to our hunt! st. francis is a small town and i would be the first to know if that did happen! I am good friends with the family that runs the airport and they monitor all plains in and out. Contestants must drive to compete in our hunt. As for the cheating, it has reared it's ugly head in our hunt a few years back and was delt with. Now the top 5 place teams are given a questionare. The team members are seperated and have to answer the same questions about their hunt. If the answers are not very simular it throws up a red flag and i then question them further to determine if they are cheating. This has stoped the pooling of coyotes and stoped the teammates from spliting up. We also temperture probe all coyotes. They are inspected by a 30 year plus trapper and the local vetinarian. Then all prize money is held for 1 week waiting for the inspection of the fur buyer to give me his findings of any trapping, dog running, or shotgunning from vehicles. Then and only then is the prize money awarded to the honest teams. I feel we go to the greatest lengths of any contest to keep honesty and integrity in the hunt. I even require that the team members give their drivers license number and the state issued, if the need arises that they need to be checkout even before the hunt starts. I have been to many contests and have witnessed some of the different issues that are related to contests. Cheaters have to work super hard to pull the wool over my eyes. I love the sport of coyote calling, and the competative side of it also. Both offer fantastic fun and entertainment to the coyote caller, and also the chance for people to gather with their piers and talk about the sport that they are commited to. The rotten cheating callers are learning that the midwest hunt is no place to try to fool some of the finest coyote callers and people in the nation. Thanks for the opertunity to answer some of your questions, and i would be glad to address any other questions that are out there.
PS....in about 10 days i hope to be anouncing new news about the MIDWEST COYOTE CALLING EVENT that will make it very apealing to all contestants and make it (i belive) the only coyote calling contest of it's kind in the nation!!
