I bought a new light it is a head light is is 80,000 candel power and has a red filter will this be bright enough remember I hunt in the east and 200 yards is far.

Bg, Sounds like it may do the trick at the yardage you speak of, but length of life may handicap you. Dont know your regs there in PA but it might be a good idea to invest in a spotlight and use your headlamp for "shooting time".

I do have a spotlight but it is 1 million candel power I also have a red lense my headlamp run time is 5 to 10 hours any other info is helpful
thanks

Sounds like thats enough life for a night.

My experience with spotlights is this, ( I use Red Dykem ) I have a 200,000 Brinkman Varmint Special and once the Dykem was applied it is as bright as my newly purchased 1.5 million cp spotlight w/ Dykem.

Red filters may be the same (I remember comparing the two years ago), but I dont use them since they are more orange campared to the "blood red" color that the Dykem puts off.

With my 200,000 Varmint special in one hand and my 1.5 million in the other you cannot tell any difference in the intensity in the beam. My experience has shown me that filters of any type only allow so much light to pass through them.

Just my $.02.

I hate to ask what seems to be a really stupid question but, What does the red lens filter do? As you can tell from my question I am new to this sport.

The red lense makes the light red and I guess predators either cant see red light or it doesnt bother them but it still reflects their eyes really well.
