Is the .222 a good coyote round?

Well its a remington 722. Probably built in the 60's. It shot 40 grain Hornady V Max and 50 grain Winchester varmint loads lights out at 100 yrds. Has a old school Weaver 6x scope on it. Only downside is it has been re stocked and has no sling studs on it.

We don't need no steenking sling studs! Esp. with that new neglige, errr, stock! And I take it you are holding it closely, as you pull the covers over both of you?? If not, I believe I would be - I'll pay the freight, and you send it over here for proper lovin'. LOL!!! Esp. free! That's cheaper than a woman!

Sounds like a good 'un. Now go hunting!

In comparison the .223 is a 300 yard gun.

Considering 90% of dogs are shot inside 100 yards I see it as no disadvantage in my book.

It is also excellent to reload it to lower power levels for small game. You could roll .22lr on up through 22mag and 22 hornet. Excellent for popping rabbits or cheap PD/practice that will let the barrel last a long time.

The 722 is a real good rifle, I have two in 222, one made in 1953 with a 26 in. barrel and one made in 1961 with a 24 in. barrel. They were the forerunner of the 700 and many parts are similar.
