Is there a fur friendly bullet for the 22-250?

I really appreciate the replies to this post. I hunt for fur and recently bought a 22-250 for long shots. I am not a handloader. I get my ammo at the sporting goods store. I got the same answer there that I read here....there is no such thing as "fur friendly" ammo for a 22-250. Now I read that some of you hand load your own and MAKE fur friendly ammo. Mt question is; Are any of you handloaders willing to sell the ammo you make that doesn't blow out coyote hides? Is it legal to make and sell handloads??? Just curious. I'd really like to buy some 22-250 ammo like what I am reading about here. Thanks.

Not a safe idea man. Do you really want to fire a cartridge some stranger who may or may not have any clue what he is doing loaded? Also you will be hard pressed to find a re loader willing to make reduced loads for someone they met online, in a rifle of unknown condition?

If you want to use reduced loads find someone local who reloads and ask them to teach you. If you pay for your own components you may find someone who will teach you on they're equipment with they're guidance.

I have shot coyotes with my 22-250 using both 50 gr BT and 55 gr BT's. Stay away from the shoulders, exits in the ribs are about the size of a nickel.

As for reloading, its the only way to go. It will cost you less than $300 for a starter kit and all the components necessary to roll your own. You can tailor your own loads.

As for buying hand loaded ammo, I wouldn't do it.

FMJs are good for saving fur but they are not accurite bullets. My 22-250 shoots them in about a 3 inch group while balistic tips are under an inch.

I shot a load of 36.5g of H380 with the Sierra 55g Spt when a coyote hide was worth $45-$55.

Many of the bullets did not pass through and the load really thumped yotes. I clocked the load and it was only doing 3450 fps.

Cats and foxes are still shot all to heck with about anything but a 17 or 22 Hornet.

I used a 52 gr HP in my .22-250 and didn't worry about about speed- just loaded for groups and I ended up being well below max. I thought it was pretty fur friendly- many shots with no exit, a few with quarter sized exit. Lots better than a .243. Am using .223 now, though.

I shoot 36.5 gr. of H380 too but with a 55 gr vmax and it is a great fur load in my rifle. I am not getting quite as much velocity as ackleyman in mine but it is very accurate and never exits.

My load of choice is a 50gr vmax in front of 36.5 gr of Varget. Bang flops yotes hard and if I do my part and stick it where it should go, no pelt damage at all. Sure, when I screw up or the yote moves as the trigger is being pulled there is usally sewing involved but such is the nature of the beast.
