Is this what it has come to?

A friend and I stopped in Sportsman's Warehouse this afternoon as I needed some patches and lube. There were a bunch of guys huddled around the handgun counter just hanging out so I asked one of the salesman what the deal was....I thought a CCW class was about to start or something. He indicated they were waiting for them to put out stock. Now I don't consider myself old, but I am guessing that each one of these guys was 15-20 years older than me. A few minutes later one of them yelled "here he comes" and they all started moving very briskly towards me. I looked behind me and realized I was between them and a cart full of POWDER. It reminded me of the National Geographic's when the small animal falls into the Amazon and the piranhas devour it. They practically ran my friend over that was coming out of a side isle to get to it. I got to witness grown, "adult" men fighting over the powder. It as absolutely embarrassing! I honestly thought two guys were going to go to blows over the Varget! I wanted to ask each of them if they actually needed it or just wanted to have it.

Our local wal-mart got tired of the same thing happening and now they put out the stock between 2 and 5 A.M. If there is a line they may save it til the folks give up and go home.

Gee, I think I may take the camera and go watch.

It's amazing what little it takes to bring out the animalistic tendencies in people.

I have sold a bunch of stuff on Ebay and that whole thing over there is amazing. I sold a 20+ year old Dillon 550 for twice what I paid for it. I sold 223 and 9mm dies for absurd prices. I would start the bidding at Midway or Brownell's new price and let it take off from there. I sold an old set of RCBS 223 dies for $84 plus shipping. A month later, Midway had them in stock again and I bought new ones for $32. So now I have a new set of dies and $50. If someone is dumb enough to do that, let them go for it. haha.

That is funny you say that. I actually thought "I wish I got this on camera" about half way through the fiasco....they probably wouldn't have even noticed.

That's not surprising. I watched two knuckleheads get in a fist fight over a flat screen TV in a Farmington, NM Wal-Mart last Christmas Eve. Crazy...

The owner of a local shop told me recently, that he receives two large powder shipments per month. People line up before the store opens and down the block waiting to get powder,on those days.

He said that he know's for a fact that a number of these guys are doing nothing but buying it and "flipping" it on the internet.

A buddy stopped in out local cabelas last week. He asked if they had any .22's they directed him to a empty shelf that held a shipment they put out that morning. 20,000 .22's were sold out in a few hours. I suspect most of them are headed to gunbroker.

Right after sandy hook a local gun shop was limiting a case of .223 per person. Some guy came in 3 days in a row with other people. He was cut off and started complaining saying there was a gun show this weekend. He was flipping the stuff. Then he was thrown out of the shop after a little temper tantrum. I know this shop has a bunch of stuff in stock its just not on the shelves due to people being stupid. So when things calm down they will start shelving stuff again. They have only been selling ammo if you buy a gun.

I really like your way of thinking!!!

Its like a 24/7 Black Friday here... People will literally Grab 30 boxes of ammo. But since they can only buy 5 they call up their buddies and sit on the pile in a corner of the store till their buddies get there to buy it all for them.

The local sporting goods store got 2 shopping carts that were full of 9mm, .223, a few .22lr, and other popular rounds and they were cleaned out in about 8 hours.

And we all know what they're doing. And we all hate it. Yet you go check gun broker and all of the overpriced stuff has bids on it. $500 for a keg of varget? I'd rather smash my thumb with a hammer. Those guys can kiss my posterior.

I have lost all hope that with my idea that our sport had a more proper sportsmanship like mentality. I have ran a cross a few though that is willing to share powder and bullets for load testing. Most though, would rather scalp the stuff to you at insane prices.

. Ya, I knew things were bad but to see these guys going at it like it was freaking black Friday was something else. I have gotten anything I have needed in the last 4 months and never had to throw an elbow to somebody's throat to do it.

The Sportsman's Warehouse here opens at 9:00. They get there shipments on Monday. The line starts forming at 7:30 Tuesday morning (at least that's what I heard). No free-for-all involved.

Yeah bud it suxs..here i sit with 300 243 cases waiting to get loaded up and can't get my primers or my IMR4350 or 4320 powder..it's making me mad..but i'm not fighting over powder and primers with morons at the shops and i'm sure not paying haz charged of 25 dollars plus + shipping on the net..I check them out the other night on the net..it would cost me over 60 dollars for 1,000 primers...

Ive seen the same kind of behavior around here. The worst part about it is that its all of our fault. Even when the panic stops if we keep hoarding this stuff and continue to pay these huge prices then it will never go back to "normal". Sad to say but itll be a shame if it doesnt stop my kids will never make enough money to be able to shoot or hunt the way I did growing up.

The new sportsmans warehouse opened today and guys stripped the shelves within an hour. The cashiers said they have never seen such a bunch of disrespectful pansie men grabbing ammo/primers etc. She nailed it though....grabbing pansies!

Claimbuster: might you just be contributing to the problem? Just a question?? Your stuff, you can do/sell as you choose. But it it takes two to tango.... OBAMA = The Best Phenom Ever To Contribute To The Gun Manufacturers/Ammo and NRA coffifers!! Gotta Love It!!
