ithaca deer slayer help

When you get it out of lay away, we will all have a project to brainstorm. Bench gunsmithing may take the place of bench racing and arm chair qbs.
 
You guys are soooo mean. I hope when he gets his new gun he becomes very selfish and doesn't share any of his experiences with you meanies. Really, I do....

Now were gonna have to hear about how Ithaca screwed you over in some 20 page cluster yuck of a post...
 
I have smithed on these things for years and here is what I will say...if it is an Ithaca 37 with a slug barrel I would leave it alone....there are too many other good, reliable, accurate slug guns out there for a few dollars more. If it is a "Deerslayer II" which was actually a Model 87 with the barrel permanently fixed to the receiver I would grab it and get it fixed.
One thing that all 37's are plagued with is the shell lifter arms getting out of whack. They have to maintain a certain specific distance apart or the gun will not feed.

anyways I know everyone got all hot and bothered about the gun club screwing me thread but if you cant answer someone's question truthfully then it should be kept to yourself.

anyways. the gun is fine, never anything wrong the smith never had it, he said the guy didn't know what he was talking about, the gun was sent out to be refinished and when it got back the guy didn't want to pay so he gave the shop the gun.

he was told $100 and with replacing the stock and bluing, etc it came to $300. it was made in ny so that run was 20yrs ago.

serial number m3700 last ones are 852 so im thinking this is an older model.

OK so here's my prediction, you shoot the gun, it malfunctions, you post here complaining about it and trying to find a cheap fix. You get frustrated and try to return it claiming it was the gun stores fault. You rant about that for 300 post, get told the truth of the matter, don't like it and rant about how no one cares about u. Claim you're leaving this forum (again) and return within 2 weeks asking for more advice on a different firearm.

if the store sells me a faulty gun such as the savage and expects me to fork out more $ to send it to savage to get it fixed then yeah I have a problem with that. you might not, but I do.

I could care less about what anyone of you think of me. this is an easy way to get help but I see everyone's too worried about pounding their chest on this site.

I really cant believe that the admin let stuff like this go on. all I asked for was advice, some acted like adults and gave it and I'm thankful for that.

btw this shop warranties their used stuff and its looked over by a gunsmith before its sold so the chances of that are slim. but thanks for your concern
