Javelina calls for coyotes?

Hi guys & gals,
Just curious about something.
I will occassionally use a domestic pig squeal/distress for a little "oddball"/curiousity sound while calling coyotes.
(I do hunt around a couple hog farms)

I'm just curious if any of you guys that live in the Southwest states, ever use a javelena call on your predator stands?
And if so, how well did it work for you??

I never tried using a javelina distress sound for coyotes, but once while using pup distress sounds I did have a bunch of javelina come in.

It works GREAT...to call in javelina.

Seriously, I've found that coyotes will respond to just about anything that sounds like a small animal in distress, but javelina WILL respond to javelina in distress. If javelina respond, it's not likely a coyote would come in too and mix it up with them.

OK, I was just curious.
We don't have any Javelina in Ks...and I'm always searching for more "unorthodox" sounds to try.
And I'm not sure how different that distress would be from a domestic pig distress, which I have tried & been successful with, around hog farms.

They will work, the javelina call, uses a bladed JC reed. Can't remember which one, but it is one of the common JC reeds that callmakers use.

What Dogcatcher said... I like a double reed for a javelina call, (and an awsome rabbit distress) a single reed JC and a mylar/stainless on the other side.
