About a month ago my brother called me to tell me he saw a coyote run through his yard with 3 black pups. I told him to call me if he see's them again. Well tonight he called he only lives 5 min from me. So I rush over with gun and call in hand still in my work clothes. He told me he saw moma and 2 of the black pups in the field behind his house. So with my 3 nephews in tow we hide behind an old golf cart. I started with a rabbit dis for a few min with no luck. Waited for a bit and switched to pup dis same deal no luck. Threw in some lip smacking again no luck. Waited a bit then went to a woodpecker. Did I tell you about the skeeters BAAAAAAAAAD! I had an old tire for a gun rest and was set up real solid. Then I saw it for a few seconds it was jet black coyote looking right at me in my scope I did not even get a chance to level the crosshairs before it turned and ran right back into the woods. I think it saw one of my nephews swattin skeeters. It was awsome looking. I am going to wait till cooler weather to go after it again. Great start to the fall I am pumped. I will send pics if I get it and will have it full body mounted. My brother lives just outside of a small town with lot's of local dogs. I figure one of those dogs got lucky with a hot yote.Coolest darn coyote I have ever seen!

If you could hold off until it's furred up, later this year, that'd be a heck of a trophy mount. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif There has been a few jet black coyotes taken...but they are definately rare. Most have a white triangle marking on their chest. Check out the Predator Biology forum for some pics.

Keep us posted.

I have called up six of them and have killed 5 of the 6. I have even shipped one half way across the country.

Hmmmmm...wonder if I will ever get my calls for that hide?

I am going to wait for the fur to get better just for mounting. I want one of those 3 yotes if not all of them. From what I saw of it there was no white on it at all. I have seen red and normal colored yotes here but these are the first black ones. Thats what I like most about hunting yotes you never know what is going to happen or what you will see. Yote hunting is by far the best hunting there is!

I got one in March or April, can't remember now. It would have been nice to get it when it was prime but I sent it off to the tannery anyway. Pretty cool looking although it did have the white triangle Tony refered to.

Thats a nice one cbosshog79. seems like there are more black ones out there than we thought. I can't wait for it to get cold and frost up here. I am going to hit the area hard in a 5 mile radius of where I was last night. If I can't call them in then I'll do some trappin but I would rather call them.
