Johnny Stewart tape or digital?

I want to hunt crows and maybe call coyotes, have a gift certificate and can purchase either preymaster or tape unit. I understand that the preymaster requires the button to be pushed every 60 seconds to continue play. This could be a pain while calling crows. The old standby tape unit is heavier and may not sound as well. Could any of you more expierienced callers help with my choice?

Either unit should work well for your intended purpose. The key pad is in your hand and is easy to push the button again. Just like sitting in your easy chair with the remote. The tape unit will be plenty clear and will probably be louder than the preymaster. Flip a coin and get what tickles your fancy. On a side note, four sounds on a chip smaller than a box of tic tacs is alot easier to cary than 4 casset tapes.

If you have the option, perhaps a JS Power Pro would aslo be worth looking at. You get the amp, horn, battery and recharger and carrying case and all you do is add the sound source, CD, Tape or MP3 Player. If available, it might be an option for you. You can also easily make the Power Pro a remote unit without much fuss or expense.

Do you fellows think that the 60 second play time on the preymaster would be a problem? I might be able to wait and check out the Bushwacker, as I heard it should be out the end of Oct.,only thing is my gift certificate is for 200 bucks at BPS. I suppose I could try the entry level foxpro, but I didn't like their pre-programmed options. What do ya think?

Call Mike dillon and talk with him and see whathe can do for ya. Ya never know. 60 second sound loops wont make a difference. Just keep hitting the button.

I don't know about you, but I know carrying decoys, a gun, caller, and everything else can get pretty tiring in a day. I think the Prey Master would be a bit lighter /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I looked at Bass Pro and they did not have the JS Power Pro Convert a Caller listed, but maybe if you gave them a call. Mine ran around 110 bucks. If you are worried about volume, they did have the Prey Master Power Pro combo unit for 199 though.

I've found that even with an electronic caller, if you use a hand call ( I actually use a couple or three - two different crow calls and a hawk screamer) I get better results at calling them in.

I have to go with Crapshoot on this one. If you can't get the Power Pro, I would go with the Prey Master. Once the crows show up they will make their own music and you wont need the caller anyway, you'll be too busy shooting /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
