Just bought a Ruger 77/44

Question I have it should I go with a higher end scope on this? I will just be using it as a fun brush gun.

I've got a aperture sight on my 44mag carbine. Lots of fun and plenty accurate.

I've never been a fan of open sights except maybe on a lever gun and that's purely for aesthetics.I would suggest one of the low power Bushnell Banner variables at Midway.Good scopes for the price plus free shipping.

I've got a no-name fixed 4 on mine, its plenty for the round.

A 44 is not a long range caliber. It might be fun to put a nice red dot on top of your new rifle.

I had a ruger 96/44 for years and loved it. I used a little weaver classic 4x and it was perfect. Had no problem holding good groups out to 100 yards.

I have a Marlin 44 and I went with a Weaver v-3 , 1 to 3 power. I hunt heavy hardwoods in West TN and crosshairs make it easy to pick a hole out in the brush you can send a slug through. I leave it on 1X most of the time and most of my shots have been about 30 to 40 yards .I think one of the new Luepold 1X4 hog hunters would be a nice choice. I like the looks of the 77/44 should be a great woods gun. Stainless is a plus too.
