just for fun! whats your favorite production rifle make, model, and cal

I've got a tie between what I have and my great gun:

Remington 700 VSSF II in 204 Ruger
OR
Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Alaskan in 338 WM

I'am with Flybuster
Cooper Varminter Model 38 in 221 Fireball. I have had it a week, it wont be my last. Fantastic rifle!

I'll play, Rem 700 classic. I have 5. Wish I had them all.

I must say that I think the QC at Rem has taken a downturn in the last few years.

BTW-I have 3 coopers. They are in a totally different league for a production gun.

My favorite was the Sako 75 Finnlight. I do not like the changes they have made to it(the 85), so I'll have to find a new favorite........

I really miss "Me". Very sad, and just flat out sucks. All should take a page out of her "book of life".......

I vote for the Rem 700. Have a .22-250 and used to have a 700 Custom Classic in .375 H&H that I loved. To this day I regret selling that rifle as much as I regret not buying its twin in 6mm.

The QC is definitely in decline though, as plainly evidenced by the amount of obvious tooling marks that are apparent without disassembly.

I am also fond of my Ruger M77 Mark II in .338 Win mag. It shoots very well, but I must admit that I dropped $600 at the gunsmith before I ever fired it. It may be the smithing that makes it shoot so well, but I like it alot!!

I have three actually, they are:

CZ 527 Varmint in 204 Ruger

Rem 700 Classic 1998 8mm Remington Magnum

Rem 700 280 Mountain Rifle

All these rifle fit and function great and all are accurate and all fill a different hunting function. The CZ is a great little varmint rifle, the 8mm Rem works well for elk and the little 280 is a fantastic deer rifle.

Don't listen to Bob, he's posted atleast 100 attempts at hitting a Buffalo nickel and hasn't hit that thing yet /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
