Got it from Robert Whitley at AR-X Enterprises. It's a wildcat cartridge based on the 6.5 Grendel, necked down to 6mm and blown out to a 40 degree shoulder. 24" stainless Pac Nor match grade barrel (1:8 twist) in a medium contour. This is their varmint configuration. It's significantly lighter than my 24" RRA varmint upper which improves the balance considerably. Should be a little easier to carry in the field as well. These uppers were originally designed for high power competition and should be capable of 1/4" groups (or better) at 100yds. Since the Grendel case is very short, it can be loaded with long VLD type bullets up to 108gr at 2900 fps and still maintain an OAL that will fit a standard magazine. It can send a 75gr V-Max at about 3300 fps. Should be an awesome long range varminter with a little "oomph" than my .223 upper. It should also work well for whitetail (95gr Nosler Partition at 3000 fps). There are some downsides. Shorter bullets can cause feeding problems. It's recommended that you don't load anything shorter that a 75gr V-Max. The cases have to be fireformed and Grendel cases are very expensive.
Anybody here have any first hand experience with these? Wormanship looks awesome. I can't wait to try it out.
