The red squirrels are (were) out like crazy the past hour. Been manning the back window with the .22lr.
One was snooping around the wood pile, I shot n missed. He took off running and when he stopped at 35 yards,, I shot. When I looked up, I seen something white flashing/ trashing around. It was a cottontail rabbit? I know damn well I shot a squirrel so WTH?

Looked through my binos and there was a dead squirrel with a dead cottontail 5 ' behind it.

Bullet passed through the squirrel, musta skipped off the ground and hit the rabbit.

You can see the rabbit in the middle of the mowed trail and if you zoom in, you should be able to see the squirrel right in front of it.
Kinda sucks as I like the rabbits around.

Just wasn't that rabbit's day. :ROFLMAO:

ETA: Luckiest shot I ever made was with an Astra Bear Cub, .22 short pocket pistol. We were quail hunting and a flock of meadow larks landed about 50-60 yards out. FIL, born and raised in Louisiana, asked me to shoot one to prove that they were good eating. I didn't want to walk out to get in shotgun range, and really didn't want to shoot a meadowlark anyway, so pulled out my little Astra Bear Cub (.22 short). Rested it on the jeep window and let fly. Couldn't believe it when the bird dropped. 😲
The Cub barrel length is only 2.25" and sight radius (such as they were) not much longer. Rear sight was very shallow V and not much for front sight either. That was a great little gun, if it had been chambered for LR I would have kept it. Only thing wrong, other than caliber, was you really had to watch out for slide bite if your grip was a bit off.
